Heya, so I just had a Tonsillectomy earlier today and am currently at home resting while doped up on pain killers and eating far more popsicles than I'd normally eat. If you wanna ask me something in my loopy state of mind .Just bear with me as I'm dozing in and out so I may miss a question or take a bit to respond.

How bad is the pain?

Eh, at the moment, I'd list it as a 3/10. Basicallly the same as if I had Tonsillitis or a sore throat. The biggest issue at the moment is a bit of phlegm caught in my throat that won't come out or go down so it hinders breathing a small bit (basically makes me snore super bad when I doze off). The cold snacks and juice are helping ease what pain their is while the liquid pain meds keeps most of the pain away.

They still do them, at least in Louisiana they do. The surgeon said that my tonsils were super bad and for sure needed to be removed before they started causing real issues.

Not 100% sure since at the time I was still really out of it, but I think they did. I just remember they said the surgeon said that the whole thing was super bad and it was a good thing they were being removed now before they started to cause real issues later down the road. Though everyone was wondering how no one decided to remove them back when I was a kid and was getting Tonsillitis every other month. Told them that was the big question I've been asking my whole life since I've dealt with multiple cases of Tonsillitis every year and it wasn't til this one doctor that finally made the choice to remove them (well not doctor since he was doing surgeries that day and instead his Nurse Practitioner that made the call).

Luckily, or foolishly? my roommate didn't take all his antibiotics the last time he had an infection, so I took the rest of his meds and everything cleared up.

Aw, I'm sorry to hear that. Mine were done at this new outpatient surgical center they had constructed in a nearby city and the nurses were super nice (and one was super hot) and my surgeon was also my actual doctor that I hadn't seen yet and they used some real high tech lasers and stuff. It's funny cause last think I remember is talking to the hot nurse about how his wife was the person that diagnosed me for a Tonsillectomy and then the surgeon was having move myself up the bed cause I didn't sit properly and then after that I was waking up in the recovery room with the female nurse that put in my IV (which was painless) and my dad and our family friend that had brought me up to the center.
