You can guard yourself all you want, when someone says something that takes down your hard work or questions your status quo, you will stew about it and want to bark something irrational and rude back. Maybe you can suppress it or bite your tongue but it'll always be there.

Considering most critics are ill-equipped and unqualified to make any judgments about anyone, I just let them say their stupid shit, smiling and nodding, knowing the source of all their critiques stem from their own shortcomings and insecurities that they are unwilling to face.

Criticism, even if 'constructive', is negative by nature, that is the imposition of someone else's opinion on another person. When you raise a kid with special needs (like I have), you're taught that you should reward them for positive actions. I believe the old saying is that 'you can attract more flies with honey than vinegar'.

It all comes down to humanity's superficial and insatiable nature.

No matter what a person does....it's never good enough.

People criticize just for the sake of criticizing.

That alone gets pretty infuriating after a while.

Sometimes it's over the most arbitrary stuff, too. Until it gets to the point where even the criticizer knows they are reaching.

The problem with criticism isn't so much that a lot of people "can't take it well"......but it's just that the criticism wasn't necessary to begin with. It starts getting into teasing and bullying territory. Nitpicky shit. And NOBODY likes that. And nobody should tolerate it.

And then you got the insensitive pricks that are just like, "Man up!" "Get a thicker skin, pussy!" "If you can't take the heat, get out of the kitchen!" "Offense is taken, not given!" "Don't be so overly sensitive!" etc.

And that's usually around the time I start stabbing them, and then while they're kneeling on the ground gushing blood, I sadistically smile down at them and say, "C'mon! Toughen up! Stop whining!"

And then they cough up some blood, and I say, "Don't be so sensitive!"

And then they start seizing, because some bloodflow to their brain is getting kinda messed up....and I say, "You are choosing to bleed. Stop making such a terrible decision!"

It depends on the tone. Constructive criticism is always helpful. If you're just gonna criticize something without a suggestion on how I can do it better, fuck off.
