D3 if you want super generous loot, POE if you want clunky mechanics and stat trees that only nerds would find enjoyable

Depends if you want complexity or simplicity. I started with POE a while back and picked up D3 this weekend for the first time. D3 is way simpler, got to level 70 and beat the entire game in a weekend. Comparatively I've been playing POE on and off for months and I'm only level 40 thereabouts. It's harder, requires a lot more thought and it's easier to screw up your build.

I feel like with D3 you can just play more or less anything and keep picking up legendaries quite regularly. With POE you have to plan out your build carefully and crafting a good build takes a lot of time and expense.

It's an ARPG, the entire game is counting stats while spamming the same 3 moves over and over as you hunt for better stats. Literally only nerds find this genre enjoyable to begin with.

I've played Diablo 3 and was underwhelmed. My guess is PoE is much much better.

Yes I know, but comparatively even getting there in POE takes significantly longer and is a lot more difficult.

Depends on how deep of an experience you want. Its really like the difference between checkers and chess. If you want an easy to play game that doesn't take any though but will get old quick you should try D3. If you want something more complex and deep you should try Path of Exile.

Necro/minion builds are in a great place right now in Path of Exile.
