This contest is awesome and I get how the divisionals work, but how did the final bracket already chosen and how do the divisional battles relate to it?

The legends bracket is made up of the Noble 9 (minus Sephiroth), who have historically been the strongest characters in these contests.
The winner of division 1 will fight Link, the winner of division 2 will match up with Mega Man, and so on --- MZero, to the extreme "2017 Guru champ BKSheikah is racist against cute Pokemon." - Luster ... Copied to Clipboard!

Actually, the winner of the loser's bracket faces the winner of the normal bracket at the end for some reason for the true finals (and will quite possibly be the same character that already lost to the champion

I hope Link guys the competition ;-). 1998 was a solid year though tbh. Draven just got the momentum of the moment Im assuming.

Before the rally Draven was losing to Jak and Chie. His support was almost all coming from off site, and without it he looks like this:
