Researching the matter, what was anyone hoping for? The Senate races were BRUTALLY gerrymandered to the point election analysts were calling this the single most biased election map ever drawn in the history of direct-elect Senatorial races. North Carolina already is in deep shit for their map drawing shenanigans but the courts permitted their ridiculously skewed map to run in this election due to the timing of the ruling relative to election day (they needed something like 53% to have anything more than 3 Democrats in the House).

The governor races are more disappointing, Id say (how did DeSantis win, honestly).

Its a victory, its not a triumph. The anticipation was that the Democratic uprising was supposed to create a dark horse effect and overturn a number of races that seemed like red locks in previous elections.

Well see where it goes.

Wat?

The amount of votes needed to overturn the Senate to Democratic was unreasonably high nationwide because of how the congressional districts were drawn when the Republicans had majority control. They drew boundaries that isolated many Democrats and minimized the number of areas where they were guaranteed to lose. There has supposedly never been a more demographically biased Senate race in US history if those demographics remained the same as when the districts were drawn.

This should be the last time it happens, though. North Carolina is being forced to redraw their map by Supreme Court decision and in Michigan and Ohio there were issues on the ballot that would take map drawing authority out of the hands of those with specific agendas. I think Ohio also saw a lawsuit over their gerrymandered map. Those are the three worst-case examples of biased mapping in the nation.

The whole state votes for the same senator. It has nothing to do with the districts inside the state. That applies to the house, which democrats won.

The goal for the Dems was to win the House. They achieved that goal. Now treason will not go unchecked.

Winning the Senate would have been great, but the idea was unrealistic considering the seats that were available (and the gerrymandering that the right pulled).

I was. The problem was I conflated what I was arguing for with what was being discussed because the research I was using was derived from an article about how bad the Senatorial election map was for the country Democratically yet the reference itself was more about gerrymandering House districts.
