Just absolutely plummets, from 100% to 30% in a matter of hours, and while the phone is on stand by mind you, not necessarily in use.

For some reason mine has been doing this of late. I can't be bothered to factory reset it out of laziness so eh.

Doesn't happen to mine. The battery drop is pretty linear.

You might have a rogue app somewhere that's sapping your battery.

I've had an S7 edge for over two years now. I've seen a slight downturn in battery power, but nothing major.

It's STILL happening even after I closed all apps and restarted the phone. Wish I knew how to pinpoint the cause of this.

If it is a rogue app, I would comb through each one under Settings > Apps to see if something is using excess battery power. I've cleaned up a lot of background apps that way (e.g., Google Play services) and my battery has benefitted as a result. Could also use device maintenance > battery to see if anything looks weird or download any number of battery efficiency apps (e.g., greenify).

Over how much time does the battery drop from full to 30%? S7 isn't that old so it seems unnatural, but it could very well be just a bad battery.

Excessive charging can be bad for the battery.

Don't leave it overnight, try charging during your morning routine.

"bloatware" apps are likely the cause for your shitty battery drain. My phone is rooted and it was only recently when I installed Greenify and messed around with it that upon cutting off Galaxy Apps's paths is when my battery life shot up significantly. But that's just my phone.

This isn't true for smartphones these days. Tech is advanced enough that the phone can turn off the current and prevent overcharging.

Ok so I left my note 5 at home when I went to work, with the battery at like 50% or so?

I come home in the evening and it dropped to 6% just from being on standby!

At first I thought leaving the YouTube app active was causing it so I closed it along with all the other apps but the drain still happened regardless.

Is anything running in the background? Run any battery health diagnostics? Losing that much charge on standby is unnatural.

Might need a battery replacement if apps aren't the issue.

Device maintenance didn't find any issues. The thing is it seems to happen on and off, so right now it seems fine but I don't know what will trigger it in the future.

As I said before, it's an issue with Samsung's software. It's not going to fix itself unless you root or factory reset.

Also I wouldn't go to Goku 3 for advice on phones. He's proven to constantly be wrong.

So update, after tinkering around the problem has gone away... again. Who knows how long that will last.

Have any of your phones ever dropped to the floor due to the slippery glass? I'm not gonna lie, there have been rare occasions when I've absentmindedly placed the phone on a surface that wasn't 100% flat and the phone is so goddamn slippery that it actually slid right off and fell to the floor. Point is I wonder if that affects battery life in some way (phone doesn't have any scratches or any cracks, it seems pretty versatile physically)

The glass is a requirement for wireless charging and yes it's slippery as fuck. It shouldn't decrease battery life.

I've had my phone's screen turn on repeatedly in my pocket which killed the battery. Try turning off "enable home button when screen is off" to see if that helps
