My favorite example of hype going nowhere was when they announced an iOS port of TWEWY. Worst countdown ever.

I think the follow up of that being the switch version being the watered down dogshit iOS port is up there.

There were two announcements related to Index last year, one of them was a mecha game and then half a year later they actually announced Index 3

Ah, right. I remember now. I remember that Index 3 was announced late in the year (like October or so) because Kadokawa only "leaked" it as damage control to take attention away from the Kemono Friends fiasco. I had forgotten about the other announcement earlier in the year though.

Oh man, I forgot about that preview from last week. If you're talking about that... I didn't think Toei had the balls to actually pull the trigger on it. If you're right and that's what actually happened, tomorrow is going to be amazing! I need to desperately resist the urge to go on /a/ and see what happened and wait until the episode gets subbed.

Similarly awful are the "OVA being split into TV format" announcements.

80 of the time the reverse is just as bad, unless the OG version was cut short and receives new animations...but then that usually doesn't happen in any major way to justify the re-viewing....

MAL tells me this came out in 2010, but that trailer says 2014 while someone in the YT comments said they remember it from their childhood which is all confusing me. Also I'm surprised I've never heard of it either.

I finally watched and found out what the fuck they did... oh my god. I can't believe Toei actually had the balls to go through with it. *Hugtto Precure Ep42 spoilers*

They actually, officially gave us the first ever male Precure!








Based on how the girls were reacting to Henri's transformation and how few episodes we have left in the series, I'm guessing this was just a one-time miracle and that he won't become a regular Precure. But still, even if it was just for one episode, this is a monumental moment in Precure history that I didn't think would ever happen.

Went to B&N today. Manga selection was about the same. Slightly better variation in Gunpla stock. I skipped the anime cause its even more marked up than the rest of the store.

I started my dubbed re-watch of Revue Starlight today and got through the first three episodes. My thoughts on the dub so far:

Brittney Karbowski as Karen was a great choice. She's always been great at playing energetic, sort-of-boyish girls like that, and she's done well as Karen so far. Some of the other dub roles I remember her from include Misaka in Index/Railgun, Rin in Little Busters, Papika in Flip Flappers, and Katsuragi in Senran Kagura. Luci Christian as Nana was another good choice. She's great for those calm, collected girls who act like big sisters to the others. Some of the other dub roles I remember her from include Ringo in Air Gear, Marika in Bodacious Space Pirates, Yukari-sensei in Azumanga Daioh, Cocona in Flip Flappers, and Ochako from My Hero Academia. She's also Kaname in Full Metal Panic, Natsu in Fairy Tail, and Nami in One Piece, which are huge roles from shows that I don't watch, but I know how famous they are.

The only voice that really stuck out to me as unfitting was Shannon Emerick as Junna. Her voice sounds way too boyish, which would be perfect for Futaba, but not for Junna. This also made the first two battles really awkward to listen to, considering that her VA was also Riki in Little Busters (which I watched earlier this year) and I was basically listening to Rin and Riki fighting against each other. The other VA's are solid, but don't have a lot of major roles behind them. Hikari's VA was also Yayaka in Flip Flappers, so all of the main three from that show are here as well. Mahiru's VA was also Sako in Upotte, a fellow semi-yandere lesbian. Claudine's VA was also Sylphynford in Umaru-chan, a fellow smug rich girl. And finally, the giraffe's VA was also Fool in Kaleido Star, a fellow appreciator of the stage.

As for the show itself... I forgot how peaceful everything about this show felt at the beginning, before everything went totally crazy. The battles early on were really good too, though overshadowed by the later ones. One thing that I couldn't help but laugh at was the scene where Karen calls Junna "Jun-jun", particularly this shot right here:



Mahiru is visibly freaking the fuck out, but looking back on this scene after having seen the whole series, it's clear that Banana was screaming internally as well.

After watching Thunderbolt Fantasy S2 ep 9, I can safely say, it's easily the top 2 anime I've watched this season, and it's dangerously close to overtaking Megalobox. It'll depend on how the season ends, but by this point, if the ending is not insanely explosive and high stakes, the world simply wouldn't make any sense.

TF as a whole is legitimately some of the best things I've watched in a long long time. Absolutely phenomenal writing and characterization, fascinating world set up where it's ancient China but infested by powerful demonic forces and even more powerful humans, constant twists and turns, fun and interesting dialogue, jaw dropping action scenes due to a lot of it being practical with CG flairs, it's got it all. I guess for me, it's definitely Gen Urobuchi freaking having done it again, where I haven't felt like that since Madoka Magica or Psycho-pass where I thought the writing had clear inspiration and could inspire even more.

Pretty good preview. It's better knowing as little as possible going into it, and the small clips he showed had basically 0 spoilers. And also definitely start with s1 because it's a very continuing story. The mystery of the entire series is set up from S1, and S2 is the resolution of that mystery unfolding in a very complicated way

I watched more of the Revue Starlight dub today, got through episode 7. Karen and Mahiru's revue in episode 5 was actually even more hilarious with the dub voices.



On that note, my Revue Starlight fanart folder eclipsed 400 images today. It's getting big enough to where I'm having trouble finding certain images when I need to, so I'm going to take some time to organize them into subfolders.
