I already traded in the Xbox One version earlier this year after I realized how much the weapon upgrades fucked up matchmaking. I didn't plan on getting it again for Switch, but I found a new copy for $30 and wanted to play portable.

So I spent the last few days playing a Faith/Dex character, planning to join the Darkmoon covenant, only to find that they fucked up the level ranges for that too. Instead of invading sinners from level 1 and up, it has the same summon range as Darkwraiths.

Like, yeah I get that it was hard for the low level characters rhat got invaded by Darkmoons, but it's supposed to be. That's the point of them getting indicted.

Yeah, they screwed it up for the rest of us.

That's like the only part that made sense to me. Haven't played it so unaware of the changes.

It's probably too complicated to explain, then.

The general point is that they took out a bunch of incentives/rewards for challenging yourself in order to make it easier for new players.

"challenging yourself"

you're complaining that you can't wallop on low-level players.

They didn't change the rewards at all, they just made them harder for you to achieve. The items you get never were the rewards anyways. What the fuck do you need Souvenirs for? To level up the covenant. That's their only use. You can just farm them anyways.

PVP is supposed to be a reward in and of itself, stop bitching because they don't let you fuck up some unassuming new player.

For example (for those that play DS):

A Blade of the Darkmoon in the 360/PS3 version at level 50 can invade anyone from level 1 to 65, while a level 100 one can invade levels 30 to 120.

In Remastered, the level 50 can only invade levels 45 to 75 and a level 100 can only invade levels 90 to 130.

I kind of get why they would add the weapon upgrade restriction (even though I hate it), but changing the Darkmoon levels is just fucking stupid.

if it's for stat boosting equipment it's worth it.
not so much for cosmetic stuff.

but sometimes we have to take our lower level brothers out to teach them some fighting wisdom within dark souls.

What if you actually want to help people? Ever think of that?

I had a SL1 Darkwraith on 360 that I got all the way to the end with just so I could farm Red/White/Blue Chunks and drop them for new players.

Not to mention how much harder it is to get summoned just because you upgraded your weapon too much. When I bought DSR on Xbox One, the first thing I did was weasel around through Darkroot Garden and farm blue chunks to get a +4 Enchanted weapon before even fighting the Taurus Demon. By the time I had it, I realized I'd pretty much just ruined the entire playthrough because now I couldn't help anybody or summon until like Anor Londo.

Because that's exactly what Darkmoons were supposed to do. That's why they had the level range so low in the original.

Darkmoons aren't just invading innocent, friendly noobs who don't know what they're doing. They invade people who keep invading and killing others. That's why they have indictments and the Book of the Guilty.

No they fucking aren't.

A game mechanic that basically puts you in an impossible-to-win scenario for simply initiating PVP? That's an abhorrently shitty mechanic, but that's exactly what you're advocating, that's what was in PTDE.

No, instead they punished absolutely fucking anyone who wanted to do PVP under SL100 by making them fight someone who can oneshot them. Even if you're the godliest god at PVP, SL30 vs SL100 is completely fucking unwinnable.

Yeah and I had a hacker red completely ruin my 125 character in PTDE by cursing me in a single hit and reducing my stats to 1 without actually reducing my soul level. Does that mean that reds are broken and should be removed? No, it means anecdotal evidence is worth diddly fucking shit.

It's not "simply initiating PvP." You're coming into someone else's game and actively trying to prevent them from continuing. If you kill them far enough away from a bonfire, especially if it's someone new to the game, they could very well lose all their souls and humanity. Risking an indictment by choosing to do that is more than fair.
