how does that make you feel?

Most young people are democrats and there is an increasing proportion of immigrants and minorities who will vote democrat.

How does it feel that your political party will be forgotten and democrats will re-write the history books to erase any small amount of good you've ever done.

Yea its not dying in 6 years. It'll take a few decades at least. Once these baby boomers all die off, its gg.

What a not-smart comment btw, "they told me that a few years ago so it hasn't happened!" you really fucking expect it to happen in a few years?

The GOP will not die off no. But the older white base will shrivel in numbers. They can't afford to be racist like they are today. Not in 2040.

Maybe we will see a rational conservative party.

And the alt righters here will have no place in politics.

Well, it's just that the opposite has basically happened. Everyone said after 2012, even Republicans, that they would have to become a more open party in order to win back the presidency, given the shifting demographics of the country. And instead they doubled and tripled down and won everything there is to win.

Changing demographics alone will not doom the GOP, and for a while may even add fuel to the fire.

What concerns me, is that I am under the impression that almost all Republicans and conservatives 18-30 something, the ones that are internet savvy, and get their news sources from places that are more extreme than cable watching boomers who like fox, are almost entirely all alt-right.

I am hoping these people will be wiped out from politics though.

I think TC is right.

Times are changing and eventually the Republican Party will either fall apart or change so much that it might as well be named something else. But has it ever occurred to anyone that the current Democratic Party could become viewed the same way as the GOP is now? Your children or your childrens children could hold and promote views in the future that we find contrary, at best, or shockingly awful at worst. Every generation of old people goes through this with their youth. I dont think young people today can escape this problem with their own descendants, regardless of whether or not Millenials really do think they are special and this time itll be different.

Ha Ha Ha. No.

You kids kill me. Here's what they don't tell you, most of these young democrats turn into republicans by the time they hit their 60s. And who always votes in record numbers? Senior Citizens. You think all those flower-power kids stayed hippies? Um, no. The republican party is built on maintaining a nostalgic way of life, something that looks ever appealing the older you get.

Futurama summed up this phenomenon the best in their time-jump skit with two guys standing outside of the social security office.

Trump is the epitome of the "one good election" phenomenon you speak of. He came in promising change when the democrats had their heads up their asses and nominated someone promising more of the same in a stunningly tone-deaf move. Trump's the last gasp of breath before the republican party continues the decline it was on before he showed up. If anything, the economic downturn that will happen on his watch will accelerate the process.

Its not gonna happen. The GOP has a way of definining the game (were playing chess!), then redefining the rules when theyre losing (ok, its chess but horses can no longer move!), then when theyre losing again they change the game (I know its chess, but its actuslly checkers, try to keep up!) and finally, if all else fails they throw a fit, flip the table, break the chess board and say guess what, b****? I win anyway!)

The game is called democracy, and they began changing the rules a while ago (gerrymandering and voter suppression), then they changed the game (they now change the narratives and make sure that good values are called virtue signaling, they call legal precedents such as family reunification chain migration, they call being pro-trade globalists now, etc, and the Democrats just let them redefine reality like that).

That has worked so far but they still cant truly win, so theyre literally filling the table. Having Russia interfere, the Wikileaks fiasco, having Comey put his finger on the scale 11 days before the election, thats flipping the fucking table. And it hasnt stopped, now 45 considers every election his party loses a fraud, he appoints government officials who will support everything he does and word is on the street that he plans to delay the 2020 elections or refuse to leave the White House and not accept the results if they dont favor him.

Hows that for flipping the table and refusing to play the game anymore? Democracy sucks anyway, so our orange emperor will stay on power, elections be damned ok? is flipping the table.

The GOP, in one way or the other will always be around
