Here are some questions for you peeps to have a go at. You can just address the most interesting ones if you like.
(1) What are thoughts, and what are things? How are they connected? (2) What do we mean when we say truth? (3) Is there a common stuff out of which all facts are made? (4) How comes there to be a world at all? Might it as well not have been? (5) Which is the most real kind of reality? (6) What binds all things into one universe? (7) Is unity or diversity more fundamental? (8) Have all things one origin, or many? (9) Is everything predestined, or are some things (our wills for example) free? (10) Is the world infinite or finite in amount? Are its parts continuous, or are they vacua? (11) What is God, or the gods? (12) How are mind and body joined? Do they act on each other? (13) How does anything act on anything else? (14) How can one thing change or grow out of another thing? (15) Are space and time beings, or what? (16) In knowledge, how does the object get into the mind, or the mind get at the object? (17) We know by means of universal notions. Are these also real, or are only particular things real? (18) What is meant by a thing? (19) Principles of reason, are they inborn or derived? (20) Are beauty and good matters of opinion only, or do they have objective validity? If so, what does the phrase mean? They are from Some Problems of Philosophy by William James (first published in 1940), a textbook aimed at beginners, which is why the questions are rather simple and why a few of them seem a bit outdated.
