I know what you mean. Its been hazy with smoke the past week up in north cal. Hazardous air quality. Burns your eyes and lungs. A fine dusting of ash over everything. Thankfully, local fire precincts and hospitals are giving out free masks.

I hate the sun but I miss it now. Forecast says rain this weeekend. Bring it in.

Is there a Santa Ana on top of that? Because smoke + 100F temperatures + 2% humidity always made it feel like you were breathing sandpaper.

No ash and dust, luckily, but where Im at....nothing but haze, smoke smell, and red/purple zone on the air quality map.

My cousins, on the other hand, had to evacuate in LA. Im really hoping that my aunts house will be safe....heard the fire was just down the road.

And it sucks, too, since I love sleeping with a window open to let fresh air in, as well as going for nighttime runs/walks. Haven't been able to do that lately.

The last week or so has been crazy. With the shooting in my hometown and the fires that started 12 hours later. Things are finally starting to calm down but I fear that this whole area has been exposed to extremely toxic chemicals because of the field lab that burned.

I just don't like the state, man. And it's sad as hell cause good people are caught up in it. Politicians don't care, parts of the population doesn't care about other things (homelessness issue, regular smog, etc;), and the cost of living just traps people into being there their whole life. It's an entirely miserable place to be, at least, looking from the outside in.

Trust me, I'm not saying that CA deserves any of this, but it's a hotbed of natural disasters and drought, not the best state out there to choose to live in, but people are stuck there regardless and it's upsetting.

I just don't like the state, man. And it's sad as hell cause good people are caught up in it. Politicians don't care, parts of the population doesn't care about other things (homelessness issue, regular smog, etc;), and the cost of living just traps people into being there their whole life. If you're making just enough money to get by, you won't be able to save anything to move away.

You'll probably need first and last month's rent plus a security deposit, if you have any furniture you'll need to rent a truck, plus you'll probably have to quit your job and find a new one. It cost me about $3-4,000 to move from California to Nebraska, and that doesn't include how much I lost giving up my job.

Yup, exactly. The same goes for a lot of major cities. Living in Kansas is super cheap, but not so much for Kansas City. California as a whole often scores in the top 5 most expensive states to live in, regardless of area.
