Tifa's popularity within the hentai communities is probably because Tifa already has the one thing that hentai art typically features. Big boobs are pretty popular in hentai art and Tifa naturally has big boobs in her official game appearances, so that made her a natural hentai target. The popularity of FFVII certainly helped fuel the Tifa hentai art.

Pikachu still had the advantage over Yoshi with registered users, doing about 1.6% better with registered users.

Bowser had the board vote over Charizard. Bowser was at nearly 60% at the freeze and finished at 56.55%.

Bowser also did better with registered users compared to anonymous users, as I stated earlier.

Oh man, the FFVII regular battle theme is so good. One of my favorites ever.

Yeah, my bracket is in shambles now. I'm going to miss the first five matches this round at bare minimum. Might only get two unless I get lucky with Luigi > Tifa. Bowser > Kirby officially eliminates me from the Guru, to boot!

But Mega Man X hasn't performed identically to Mega Man in the past! I've said this for years! Not to Mewtwo is a fraud extents because X is still quite strong, obviously, but yeah, not at Noble Nine levels at any time. But yeah, I've been strongly backing Tifa's strength for years, and I'm glad she's vindicated my faith this year.

Tifa/Mega Man X was one of my most anticipated matches of the contest because it probably had one of the highest combined power levels of any match in the first bracket, and it actually delivered. Definitely belongs in the pantheon of greatest matches ever, especially once you include all the "controversy" with the rallies.

Also, my understanding (since I missed most of the match) is that MMX rallied first, and Tifa's was a counter-rally. I also think the rallies essentially evened out, so it's not like it ruins the stats to any significant degree. You know these two are on the same level strength-wise, and the match bears that out.

Man, I'm glad you guys had to discuss this and not me.

One of the weird things about these rallies is that Tails and Ammy benefited from rally spillover, but KOS-MOS got nothing.

Protoman and Zero are the Mega Man characters worth caring about! Also I'm glad we didn't get into any "Tifa is a terrible character because she withheld important information" arguments because those are the worst.

Pac-Man Apathy Factor is legit. If only I had known about it before we started the contest, I would have changed...probably nothing!

Actually, now that yo mentions it, I do remember him being a big proponent of SmartVoterFAQs.

I do believe Tifa could pick up a bit of a rally because of her run through a hard part of the bracket while Luigi has coasted against easy opponents. When the voters perceive someone as an underdog, they tend to flock to them, even when they're really not one (like Charizard in 2010, whose prediction percentages were pretty terrible overall even though most of B8 had him at least reaching Bowser). When you're a heavy favorite (like Luigi was based on prediction percentages), you can't really pick up momentum like that. Tifa had the third lowest prediction percentage of round three (only Red and Aerith were worse).

Augh, Squall/Zelda discussion. Time to get depressed again. I think that match says more about Squall than Zelda, and if Aerith matches or surpasses his percentage this round, that would further confirm it.

Eh, I wouldn't say Squall didn't put up much of a fight against Vivi. The fact that he refused to fold is probably the main reason Red won that match. It was easy to excuse what happened to him in 2013 as Red and Vivi bandwagoning because of rallies and big victories. Squall broke 60% on Ammy the round before, and we saw what she just did to Seph!

Seifer and Rinoa were both in CBIX, and they both got stuck in LFF situations. Aerith is absolutely the worst matchup Rinoa could've gotten outside of Squall himself, but she's probably still weak anyway.

Eh, I don't think what MM did in GotD was being a proxy for OoT. It validated its strength in 2015. People speculated this in 2005 when Link, Cloud, and Seph were all removed, but it didn't really seem to be the case then either.

Okay, that's right about the halfway point. I'll finish the rest tomorrow.

Even at the start, the registered user percentage wasn't as high as it normally would be. Usually that first hour gets around 60-63% registered users, but it was under 59% in this match. The closest comparison I could find was the Auron/Lucina match (from the same day of Magus/Vincent), which had 49.44% registered users at 11:00 AM. Tifa/MMX was at 49.59% registered users at 10:00 AM (remember that Tifa/MMX started at 7:00 PM compared to the 8:00 PM start of Auron/Lucina). Based on Auron/Lucina, we were on a crash course to finish with about 47.00% registered users, but we actually finished with 44.98% registered users. About 960 anonymous votes would have to be removed to end up with 47.00% registered users instead.

The most noticeable effects of the rallies was seen during the final 3 hours of the match, which had under 30% registered users. The final hour was the most rally affected hour of the match.

Tails might have actually been the outright favorite over Luigi from the votes coming in from the outside rallies. It should be noted that anonymous users also may also regular site visitors voting in the matches that simply don't have an account. Some of them may also be site visitors who stumbled upon the matches after landing on the site from Google or another search engine and then were somehow able to browse to the homepage.

Looking at just the final 3 hours, Tifa seemed to have the larger rally going during that time.

Sephiroth seems to have been hurt only very slightly by the rallied votes. The rallied votes might have been favoring Sephiroth with maybe 59-60% of the vote over Amaterasu where as the other anonymous votes not connected to the rally were favoring Sephiroth with more than 62% of the vote.

KOS-MOS was another character who got a great boost from the Tifa rally, although it's not as likely that the rallied votes outright favored KOS-MOS over Ryu.
