DS, DS, PSP, 3DS. I guess if you mean handheld then yeah, sure, but I don't know why you would discount them for that. Plus they're released the compilations like four times over the past couple years.

Gamer memory, especially on this site, tends to be very console-based. Unless youre Pokemon, portable games will end up falling into the memory hole as being cashgrab spinoffs, especially if theyre phone games.

i gotta say the worst i have felt this contest is making a stink about the Alucard Netflix Boost pre-contest, getting told it wouldn't matter, then taking him to division finals regardless of what people said... and having him lose to fucking big boss

honestly one of my biggest regrets, if i had taken alucard to win the division i'd be happy with my bracket even though it's on fire right now

Both were important bracket outcomes (Tifa/X was always going to beat Luigi) affected by a few select Board 8ers, purely to get the bracket result they wanted.

Tifa/X are close in strength and the result could change based on the day of the week. A match that close is always going to be decided by some outside source, be it a rally, a trailer, the match pic, or the other matches happening that day. A rally changing a result like that is astronomically different than going from losing handily to Chie and Jak, to beating Link with relative ease. Even if we give X the benefit of the doubt for no reason (considering he never did well during the day in the first two rounds), flipping a 51/49 result around is not even remotely similar to changing and 80/20 (or worse)

This "should have" is the problem. Why "should" MMX have won? Is it just because of "Gamefaqs strength alone", whatever that actually is because I doubt any character has ever demonstrated "solely GameFAQs" strength. Who decides that?

It would be really nice if you would actually track the Second Chance brackets, even though they won't overwrite the original Guru picks. By tracking the Second Chance brackets, we get to see what kind of changes the Gurus would have made in their bracket based on what has already happened. The Second Chance Guru contest would be an unofficial Guru contest - the winner won't receive a free Guru nom for the next contest or being listed in the signatures of the other Gurus.

I was going to respond to BT but everyone else already wrote my replies for me. Did the "wrong character" win? Maybe! But if you're going to put a * next to that result you need to do the same for all of our previous 100 close matches. Posting links in Discord and reddit and texting friends is just the new version of sending messages in AIM and MSN and ICQ; it's happened every time a result was in doubt, and it always will happen.

If anything it's less of a problem this year than ever before, since the new people being pulled in only count for half of what they used to.

Looks like I was wrong, the Second Chance Bracket won't actually overwrite your original picks in the Legends/Loser bracket. There will also be a chance to win prizes for the Second Chance Bracket. Given these developments, does this change your decision to track brackets for the Second Chance contest? You can still make it a Guru contest that does not carry any prizes for the winner (no Guru nom for the next contest or being listed in other people's signatures).

How many total votes will be cast through all 30 battles of this portion of the tournament (not including the registered user bonus)?

This question will be pretty easy to answer because we all already know the average vote totals per match for the contest up to this point.

We're currently averaging 20077 raw votes per match. So that projects for a total of 602310 votes for the remainder of the contest.

However, I expect the rest of the contest to have slightly higher average vote totals compared to the first 4 rounds. My recommendation for a tiebreaker will be somewhere between 610000 and 700000.

Because there was just so little information in the contest description/rules about the Second Chance bracket. Apart from the mere mention of the Second Chance bracket, there was no information on how it would work, and no mention if there would be any prizes (and what they would be).
