There's been four games since KH2! Five if you count the phone game!

I count zero. Theyre all mobile.

DS, DS, PSP, 3DS. I guess if you mean handheld then yeah, sure, but I don't know why you would discount them for that. Plus they're released the compilations like four times over the past couple years.

I'm just tired of "it's been over 10 years since the last game!!" being put forward as the reason for the KH deboost, that's all

Gamer memory, especially on this site, tends to be very console-based. Unless youre Pokemon, portable games will end up falling into the memory hole as being cashgrab spinoffs, especially if theyre phone games.

i'm listening now, the only I note I have so far:

1) I don't think the Tifa rally could have gotten as many votes as X despite the views because people on visit hentai subreddits when they are in the middle of jacking off

yeah people make comments and upvote and shit but nobody stops jacking off to type www.gamefaqs.com into their browser and vote in multiple matches. what a buzzkill.

i gotta say the worst i have felt this contest is making a stink about the Alucard Netflix Boost pre-contest, getting told it wouldn't matter, then taking him to division finals regardless of what people said... and having him lose to fucking big boss

honestly one of my biggest regrets, if i had taken alucard to win the division i'd be happy with my bracket even though it's on fire right now

Ngamer, I don't understand how you can possibly say that what Tifa did was AT ALL any different than what Draven/Undertale did.

Both were important bracket outcomes (Tifa/X was always going to beat Luigi) affected by a few select Board 8ers, purely to get the bracket result they wanted.

@BlAcK_TuRtLe

Size of the rally matters
Small, individual rallies have always happened
But Draven/UT were huge and turned weak entrants into unstoppable forces. Tifa essentially gained like 1% extra strength to win.

It cannot be explained any more simply than that

If Draven/UT had never happened this would be a relatively normal thing. It's not the first time. Rallying in some form has happened in almost every close match, I would wager, long before 2013.

So..... you people are okay with rallies, but only if they bring in a certain number of votes?

It doesn't matter if a character wins by 1 vote, or by 1000 votes, if that vote was a rally, the results of the contest have been altered, and people who entered a bracket and picked the correct choice based on strength, are now punished for it, because someone that picked the other character managed to successfully rally votes. Any rally that changed a contest result (particularly such an important result like Tifa/X) is equal in my mind.

OK but you understand that this is a very extreme way of looking at it, don't you? You're essentially invalidating the results of almost every contest match, particularly the close ones.

People have often made picks based on potential outside forces. GTA/Warcraft, Starcraft in 2004, even the Kerrigan > Vince upset. That's a factor that should always be considered when filling out brackets.

So what you're saying, is that even though X should have won comfortably, I had to know that there were weird hentai subreddits, and that people on Board 8 were familiar enough with those subreddits to successfully rally Tifa to a win?

And how is this different than Draven/Undertale?

You're an idiot

Tifa/X are close in strength and the result could change based on the day of the week. A match that close is always going to be decided by some outside source, be it a rally, a trailer, the match pic, or the other matches happening that day. A rally changing a result like that is astronomically different than going from losing handily to Chie and Jak, to beating Link with relative ease. Even if we give X the benefit of the doubt for no reason (considering he never did well during the day in the first two rounds), flipping a 51/49 result around is not even remotely similar to changing and 80/20 (or worse)

You're basically saying that like if the price of gas went up 1 cent or 100 dollars it's the same because it went up

This "should have" is the problem. Why "should" MMX have won? Is it just because of "Gamefaqs strength alone", whatever that actually is because I doubt any character has ever demonstrated "solely GameFAQs" strength. Who decides that?

Can you even prove the rallying decided the match?

No Guru picks will be changed based on the Second Chance, and I'm not going to track these new brackets. If someone else would like to do it as a new board Contest, they're welcome to.

It would be really nice if you would actually track the Second Chance brackets, even though they won't overwrite the original Guru picks. By tracking the Second Chance brackets, we get to see what kind of changes the Gurus would have made in their bracket based on what has already happened. The Second Chance Guru contest would be an unofficial Guru contest - the winner won't receive a free Guru nom for the next contest or being listed in the signatures of the other Gurus.

I shall do no tracking of the Second Chance, if you think it would be great to have, you should make a topic tomorrow to collect brackets and you can score them in Google Sheets.

I was going to respond to BT but everyone else already wrote my replies for me. Did the "wrong character" win? Maybe! But if you're going to put a * next to that result you need to do the same for all of our previous 100 close matches. Posting links in Discord and reddit and texting friends is just the new version of sending messages in AIM and MSN and ICQ; it's happened every time a result was in doubt, and it always will happen.

If anything it's less of a problem this year than ever before, since the new people being pulled in only count for half of what they used to.

Looks like I was wrong, the Second Chance Bracket won't actually overwrite your original picks in the Legends/Loser bracket. There will also be a chance to win prizes for the Second Chance Bracket. Given these developments, does this change your decision to track brackets for the Second Chance contest? You can still make it a Guru contest that does not carry any prizes for the winner (no Guru nom for the next contest or being listed in other people's signatures).

Enter Your Tiebreaker:
How many total votes will be cast through all 30 battles of this portion of the tournament (not including the registered user bonus)?

This question will be pretty easy to answer because we all already know the average vote totals per match for the contest up to this point.

We're currently averaging 20077 raw votes per match. So that projects for a total of 602310 votes for the remainder of the contest.

However, I expect the rest of the contest to have slightly higher average vote totals compared to the first 4 rounds. My recommendation for a tiebreaker will be somewhere between 610000 and 700000.

Apart from Ngamer having to set up a separate Guru for Second Chance since only he can do that, he wouldn't have to actually input any brackets himself and allow other volunteers do the rest of the work for him.
