I just got out of a HP marathon. Plan was to read a book, watch the corresponding movie, next book and so on

Didn't even complete order of phoenix movie. Books are so much better

Critics tend to just instinctively shit on big blockbusters like this simply because it's not intentionally pretentious. Most are still great movies, but they see a few flashy effects and just stop watching.
Very rarely they'll get it right (Suicide Squad, Venom, TLJ, etc.) but that's more in spite of themselves than anything.
