Here I am working on a little spreadsheet to track my finances and do some retirement planning and stuff. I was wondering when I'd be retirement age and what my balances would look like at that age given various assumptions. When I did the math to find out that I'd be retirement age in the 2050s, I was shocked because it doesn't seem like the 2050s are that far away. :( Time is flying by. :( :( :(
Some of us might live to see 2100 and a little beyond that, but unfortunately we're probably not going to live to see the really cool stuff. Like AI, colonization of the moon and Mars, advanced medicines and technologies, etc. :( :( :( Putting together a financial status spreadsheet really sobers you up and gets you thinking about automating as much of your 401k / investments as possible and just spending more time on shit that's really meaningful and fun and of interest to you. --- Do good. Spending your youth preparing for retirement, then spending your retirement wishing you had your youth back Spreadsheets are fun! Once you're putting money into your 401k and a brokerage account every month, you're pretty much set. Anything beyond that is just for fun. I really like messing with numbers and spreadsheets so it's all just for fun at this point. I like seeing how different levels of spending alter my expected net worth 30 or 40 years from now. It's fun making some small changes and watching the numbers refresh. Etc. --- Do good. Eat communists. ... Copied to Clipboard!
