I didn't like it, when I first saw it One of the things I was on about in my intended op was how it plays even better on subsequent viewings, even knowing the plot. For instance there is a really long shot of a battered Daisy looking out the window at the end of the carriage ride that hits so much harder when you know what's coming. --- I wish we all waved ... I was disappointed when Justified ended because Walton Goggins is amazing. Hateful Eight wasn't perfect... but Samuel L. Jackson, Walton Goggins, Kurt Russell, Michael Madsen and Tim Roth all in one movie? Maybe it lost a bit in terms of fanservice... and had over the top dialogue at times... but shit... it was a fun and worthwhile ride. Tarantino for fans of Tarantino.

Does anybody else find a lot of people misinterpreting what SLJ says to Bruce Dern as a flashback and not Dern's imagination? My dad did, somebody in this topic did (I think), plenty of other internet discussion. I see how people make the mistake but the movie makes it pretty clear it's made up. SLJ clearly wants to provoke him enough that he tries to kill him. There's an edit that overlays the scene in the snow over Dern's head, as if it's what he's imagining as opposed to objective reality. The way he pulls the blanket up like he's being told a scary story. "Starting to see pictures ain't ya?" It's not some unique observation obviously I'm just surprised how often I see this.

I got really excited when it looked like it was going the way of a
John Ruth The music and all the big long shots of the environments at the beginning before we meet anyone were so freaking creepy. The rest of the movie didn't exactly fit up with the mood that built up, but I loved it anyway. I'm sad that dingus is one of the most memorable parts of the movie. It overshadowed a lot of the better moments just with pure shock value/ridiculousness. Everyone hollering about the door was pretty freaking funny every time it happened. --- I'm a loner, Dottie.
