You experienced nothingness before you were born, and I believe you return to that same nothingness when you die.

An afterlife is highly illogical and makes no sense according to the laws of science. Reincarnation makes more sense than an afterlife does. Life is rather cyclical in nature, and reincarnation would be in keeping with that cyclical nature. Although I don't really believe in reincarnation either, but it makes more sense than an afterlife does. I believe that when we die there is nothing.

The same thing that happened before I was born. Nothing. As irrational as it is I have a fear of death even though I won't even know when it happens and it'll be like being put to sleep only never waking up. I try not to think about it too much though as if I go too deep into that rabbit hole I'll probably never come out and it serves no purpose. Thinking about the journey not the destination is more productive.

What makes you "you" is your brain. Without that there is no "you" thus "you" don't go anywhere. Now don't get me wrong believing in life after death is nice I'd imagine and it doesn't do any harm but it is basically just deluding yourself. Not that you'll ever know that when you die.

Idk. I dont see how it doesnt make sense. There are lots of things we dont fully understand. If you showed planes or fighter jets flying around to people before there had anything that flew in the air, they would think it was magic. But its just science they didnt understand. But the same thing could happen now. After death, maybe something happens that we dont understand. It might seem like magic to us, yet there may be some complex science that we dont understand yet...

Yet for the things we don't understand there is things suggesting these things exist thus we try and understand them and find out why these things happen if we ever can.

However nothing suggests life happens after death. Nothing suggests it's any more real than a kids fairytale. Nothing happening after death has more proof to it simply because of science. We know your cogitation makes you through science and without the brain that isn't a thing thus no you. If that 100% proof? Of course not and I doubt we can ever prove what happens in death but more signs point towards that due to evidence.

As I said stuff like life after death if too actually help folk cope with death. Religion is actually designed to help folk through life too. It's nice if folk believe that stuff I guess. It's also harmless for the most part as when you inevitably die you won't know if you're right or not and you certainly can't come back and tell us.

^ This more or less. Death isn't an instantaneous thing unless your body and particularly your brain are completely destroyed in the process. If they're more or less intact, resuscitation is possible and death can be averted.

Like old people don't die of old age, they die of organ failure due to deterioration.

It's the God delusion because it's the exact same reasoning, there's a reason why religion outlines the afterlife.

I don't think death actually exists. I think it's possible that reality is mostly an illusion and that everyone's consciousness if connected until a point in time where you are no longer connected anymore and that's what we consider death. Maybe there's a new phase after that, not something bad, just something different than whatever we are experiencing now.

That's not entirely true. Circumstances points out to the fact that other parts of your body also carries what defines you, and some people have shown to display other's characteristics after organ transplants and things like that.

If you ask me, I place my coins on the fact that our... "consciousness" (?) or what others call "soul" are actually the electrons running trough our nervous system, and it is theorized that electrons does "pop in and out of existence" all the time, though we currently lack any means to observe them to prove that. The thing is, when we die and our body is unable to hold those particles together, our consciousness could very well be carried over to that place where these electrons go, be it a 4th dimension or whatever else.

Well, yeah, that's not a unique concept to just FF7. Our bodies literally do return to the earth when we die. Our bodies rot and decay and eventually our molecules break down and return completely to the earth, and then new life is born from that. That's the cycle of life, and a basic rule of science is that matter can never be created nor destroyed. Every new life is born out of the matter of the old dead lives.

The real question is whether of not such a thing as a "soul" exists. We simply do not know if anything like that exists, and there is no way of actually proving it. If a soul does exist, maybe it goes on to an afterlife (heaven/hell) or maybe it is reincarnated in a new body or maybe it wanders the earth as ghost or maybe souls just don't exist period. Who knows. Nobody knows.

You shouldn't put your coins on some fringe hypothesis involving quantum mechanics of which our current understanding is for shit. Have you ever seen that show Through the Wormhole, narrated by Morgan Freeman? There was a whole episode about this. It is very interesting for sure, but it is not proven to be a fact as you seem to believe.
