Well, in your case, FFXIV is much more like WoW than GW2 is, so thats a start. I prefer GW2 for the exploration focus and the subscriptionless model though.

I don't know if you can really solo in xiv. I used to do pretty good with a warrior but I think they simplified it and nerfed it.
