Yeah, I did early voting.

Went in around 5-ish which would presumably be their busy time.

In and out in 10-15 minutes, and most of that was waiting outside because I saw someone I knew and hang around to say hi.

Yeah you're not allowed to be critical of her approach. Which is why she's probably going to get worse and worse as a politician, rather than better, unfortunately.

I know you really want to believe in this broad, but sometimes hope is for dopes. She's not very good at debate or negotiation (unsurprisingly, she's a new politician), but all people like you do is coddle her and spin. She'll be another Hillary before you know it.

I'd want her to succeed. I'm saying, she won't succeed unless she starts messaging less recklessly. "Abolish ICE!"... no one knows what that means. It's almost perfectly designed to confuse your base voters and energize the other side.

ICE literally didn't exist until 15 years ago. We wouldn't just become a borderless hellhole of scum and villainy if it went bye bye.

I never said anything about their working on the border. Smartphones are relatively new too, that doesn't mean we can just get rid of them and everything will go back to the way it was smoothly as ever. "Abolish ICE" is a slogan without any plan whatsoever, and you'd be a fool to think it's effective to nationalize House races. It's one reason why a slam dunk midterm ended up in such a draw in so many races.

Voters don't read the website. If your plan is to restore INS, then make the slogan "Restore INS"... but she wanted to be a little firebrand about it, and it backfired. She continues to nationalize her office. Nationalizing the office = Republican win. Constituent service = Democrat win. She is very inspired by Bernie, but does nothing that made him so popular in Vermont. She seems to continually enter the arena on Republican terms, which is a loser strategy.

Crowley was under no threat either in that district. I'm not talking so much about her particular race, but how her platform and what she was saying resonated in other districts in a negative way. Of course if she's being a typical politician, she should only care about herself and her district, but she was also accepting this national mantle by going on Colbert and other programs, and she seems guided by a racial politics that made easy wins in swing districts more contested. I don't think the midterms were a total bust, but there should have been way, way more gains than what happened. And I think a lot of that was forsaking traditional voting bases (particularly white women) for this sort of chest poundy "LET'S SHUT THE FUCKER DOWN" stuff that doesn't land on the kitchen table of likely voters.

Her big slogan "Abolish ICE" is a loser issue. Here's all the polling you need on that. Only 1 and 4 support reform when you reframe it as abolishing ICE. About as many people as believe the Sun goes around the Earth.

"BUT PLURALITY OF DEMOCRATS!!"... barely, and educated white women are a higher priority vote to get in swing suburban districts.

"BUT THAT DOESN'T MEAN SAINT CORTEZ LOST IT!!!"... but I mean if you keep centering your now-national campaign on a slogan that is unpopular and tends to provoke either confusion or genuine disgust, yeah I don't think it's the rest of the world that has the problem here.

Keep moving the goalposts. It's enough to show that one of her campaign slogans is not a winning issue, and it did get play beyond her district. The establishment liberal media figures amplified it, and all it did was help to energize Trump's base.

But I suppose there's more important principles than winning... like losing.

But losing on an unpopular message will lead to literally no policies. The first priority is power. And it's not like there's not very popular issues that Democrats can promise, win on, and perform, issues that are far better than, "ABOLISH ICE" and its 1 and 4 approval. You don't literally have to promise everything you are going to do before you run for office.

Ah the classic "calling your opponent an idiot" technique.

I guess I'll put it in PC language. "Someone who repeatedly fails to see the reality of both polling and specific actions of a candidate." I prefer the brevity, but I suppose I'm talking to the mediocre right now.

It's not about being PC. It's just resorting to insults in a debate makes you look bad.
