There are more idiots who identify as conservative but there are an equal amount of idiots between them when you consider the people who vote for or align with liberals who don't know what a liberal is.

The broad group of liberals is smartest all around, in the sense of social relations and sciences, but that's more of a big minority of the group. The general is average, the average is general, one is too high and one is too low.

When it comes down to it, I think it is less about intelligence and more about open-mindedness. Liberals are obviously more open-minded. Being open-minded makes you appear smarter even though it doesn't necessarily mean you are. It is really hard to consider someone intelligent when they stubbornly adhere to outdated traditions simply because they are unwilling to entertain new ideas.
