I'm really not sure here. I know recent games have hurt Metroid (like Other M I think), so I was thinking Zelda could beat her with BotW and Hyrule Warriors Switch boost. The Sonic pick I'm a little shaky on, but still pretty confident in. And I'm pretty sure you are right that Samus can't beat Mario.

Yes, and it was also probably one of Samus's weakest years, even if she did end up winning the main bracket. Remember, aside from Missingno beating Crono, which was a 12-hour match with obvious rallying, only once has a Noble Niner failed to break 50.5% on a non-Noble Niner, and that's Samus in 2006 against Tifa.

Honestly, I'd be more scared of Tifa beating Samus than of Zelda doing so!

Honestly, we need a Tifa-Zelda match in one of these contests. I'm honestly not sure which one is stronger, and they're both clearly among the strongest non-NNers so it's a long overdue match. Sadly we're not going to get it this year because Tifa's path is so predictable--lose right away to Samus, then lose again to the Sephiroth-Mario loser. And if by some miracle she actually does beat Mario in that match, well, her next opponent is the Sephiroth-Samus loser. So unless Tifa really does have what it takes to beat Samus, her path is severely limited.

Why do they keep feeding the same characters to the same characters? This is Tifa's sixth contest (yeah, disappointingly low number), and she's already lost to Seph 3 times (two in one contest, thanks fourways) and Samus twice. And it's quite possible that her two losses to be eliminated from this one will be Samus and Sephiroth, too.

She's never lost to a non-NNer (well technically she did in a fourway but really she just got SFFed by Sephiroth enough for another character to climb past her), but she's yet to face six of them.

As strong as Zelda is, I still have some faith in Sonic. Sure 2013 had him leeched like hell by Nintendo (a Pokmon boost helped). But Sonic already defeated Ganon in 2010. And he has a win over a fellow N9 member, Crono. Hope it at least translates into a close match.
