for what it's worth i don't think that's a knock on Link losing any power, just people gaining more respect for Dorf since it's okay to like wind waker now + his best design being in the pic

I wouldn't underestimate the NES.

1987 did quite well in the Best Year Ever (which shocked a lot of people) and that was basically Zelda 1, Metroid 1 and Mega Man 1. Even if people haven't actually played these originals, they get certain "respect points" and people voted 1987 because they saw the year as the start to three all time beloved franchises.

Meanwhile, the NES is the start to everything and I think voters will recognize that. A picture of the NES with Mario 1, Zelda 1, Final Fantasy 1, Metroid 1, Mega Man 1, Castlevania 1 etc in addition to Duck Hunt, Contra, etc will be extremely powerful imo and I'd imagine voters who aren't too familiar with both NES and GameCube will respect the original more.

I also think the NES beats the GameCube 1v1.

The GameCube may have done better in the multi-way, but the NES gets massively "nostalgia LFFed" with the SNES and other 90's consoles in that poll.

I think it wins with respect factor. SMB1, LoZ1, FF1...put those in a match pic and the GameCube is going to have a hard time competing, IMO.

I wouldn't be totally shocked if the GameCube won, but I wouldn't favor it.

Well, technically Pikachu/Zero trends were that the power hour edge of Pikachu offset Zero being relatively better with the ASV and Zero didn't really get his percentage boost to offset Europe tanking the hell out of him till an hour or two in the match. Zero 40 minutes in wasn't too far off his ending percentage.

I wouldn't feel safe if I were Mega Man but he'll probably still win.

If Zero/Pikachu trends hold Pika getting the lead is not only not certain but also if he gets it he's unlikely to ever give it up.

Nothing Sephiroth did is something Pikachu couldn't replicate. 60-40 on Ryu is impressive but not unattainable, and I'm pretty sure Pikachu clear 65% on Falcon and 62% on Amaterasu.

Smash is going to be near-worthless and Cloud's results will show that. He didn't even looked stronger than Sephiroth in 2013.

I think Hyrule Warriors is by far his best design. His armor looks great and so does his mane.

His character is actually good too in the game, and is the only time you can see Ganondorf beat Link and Zelda in a fight and win the triforce. A really great service to Ganondorf from Koei in that game.

I doubt Pikachu could win without a rally. Whether he gets one is unclear, since we haven't seen much rallying this contest.

I do not think Mega Man could beat Cloud. He hasn't shown the rallying history of the Pokemonz.

I don't think Mega Man needs a rally to beat Cloud. He just wins on inherent strength.

Cloud is being given a lot of credit he doesn't deserve due to pre-2013 performances. He looked like total ass in that contest even before losing to Squirtle.

But Wind Waker is probably his best characterization and backstory in the main series, and it's no longer the "in" thing to make fun of Wind Waker for having cel-shaded graphics. I see people on social media sites still praising Ganondorf's character in Wind Waker occasionally even to this year, which is why I brought up that game.
