This actually makes a lot of sense. There's basically no chance of immediately topping an all-inclusive game like this, so long-term support is a really appealing option. If rumors are true and Nintendo's looking to basically just put out a stronger Switch as their "next gen" console in 2020, it would be really nice to just have Smash Ultimate updated throughout the generation rather than scramble to make a likely inferior game.

They better fucking be willing to upgrade some ATs and Spirits to playable DLC then because holy shit if all those characters are permanently excluded and they've still got 30 characters on the plate.

There's a very good chance they don't use all 30, or even close to it. But it does mean they're atleast heavily considering doing more than one season.

30 characters with each cost $6 means $180 DLC which is 3x times the price of the original game so..cool...

They said that none of the upcoming DLC fighters will be echoes, but I feel like they could add some outside of that specific package.

Who knows, maybe they'll be free? Mario Tennis just came out with a bunch of free DLC characters.

They have definitely transitioned fully to Smash as service with this game. Yearly DLC seasons for the next 10 years probably.

So overall I like the list of new tracks but it seems like the songs that got remixed in Smash 4 or Brawl that they remixed AGAIN in Ultimate were basically worse versions (like Lost in Thoughts All Alone or Magicant) and there were a handful of kinda forgettable stuff.

My top 10 are probably (rough order)

1.Gangplank Galleon
2.Crocodile Cacophony
3.Snakey Chantey
4.Termina Field
5.We're the Robots
6.Snake Man
7.Vega Stage
8.Lost Painting
9.Id Purpose
10.Opening Stage (MMX)/Central Highway

Subject to change once I listen to songs more and hear the songs in game and whatnot

The greatest part about XCX is that all the characters suck! So theres not a single one that I would be disappointed with if we got a rep. Plus Xenoblade getting a non-guar plains stage would also be great!

Wasn't Mallow also listed in the leaked Spirit List (unless it's the green haired girl from Pokemon Sun/Moon)

But yeah Square really dropped the ball on their representation, they could have at least added Mako Reactor or Jenova to the Midgar stage.

Weird how they'll license their characters and music to a bunch of mobile games but the biggest crossover in all of video games? Just have Cloud, Midgar and two songs.
