Upload Beyonce's new single to Youtube unauthorized? Google gets sued. Upload a clip of Star Wars to Facebook? Facebook gets sued. This places an intense economic burden on the content hosts to pay for the crimes committed by others. In no other industry does such a fucking ridiculous requirement exist. If I make illegal copies of a DVD, Samsung doesn't get sued for making the DVD-R that I used. If I broadcast unlicensed music to customers in my store over a custome sound system, Logitech doesn't get sued for the speakers I used. It's an absolutely fucking ridiculous precedent to set and it will force content driven websites to do one of two things. 1. Block all access to the EU entirely 2. Lock things down and impose strict curation on who and what gets to upload and where Note that people are constantly uploading copyrighted shit to Steam as well all the time in the form of copyright-violating mods and sometimes entire scam games with copyright violations in them.
