So, you guys are still on the hook that if it's a Spirit, it can't be a DLC fighter? You know that would eliminate about 95% of all likely candidates, right?

There are spirits in the game that are the actual fighters, including Piranha Plant.

While it is still technically possible, them being already in the game in some non-fighter form (Assist Trophies, Stickers, etc.) makes it much less likely. Sure, with the DLC they could patch out the sticker/trophy and put them in as a fighter instead, but they've made it clear they have pre-planned what the DLC is gonna be. If they knew they wanted a certain character to be added in later as DLC, why would they waste time, effort, and resources to make an assist trophy or sticker of them when they know they're just gonna trash it later?

Are there spirits for all fighters then? Otherwise it seems weird.

If there are spirits for all fighters, then my entire post from before pretty much goes out the window, lol, at least in terms of Spirits. I think my argument still stands for assist trophies.

I'm pretty sure people noticed Wii Fit Trainer and King K Rool as spirits in the last Smash Direct.

I don't know if they appear in events like the one posted here however.

Some stores internationally fucked up and sold the game early, so there have been some legitimate copies that have gotten out.
