The night brims with defiled scum, and is permeated by their rotten stench.
Just think. Now you're all set to hunt and kill to your heart's content.

there's meta data in the image that can be traced back to it's source. there are ways to remove that data though

Even if they couldn't today, let's say because you ran it through some distortion filters or something, it will probably still be possible in the future. Basically there's no way to ensure anonymity anymore. Your best hope is that they won't care enough to bother.

2.1. How to Completely Remove EXIF Data

The easiest way to remove EXIF and XMP Data from an image without involving third party software is to either do it in Photoshop or in Lightroom. In Photoshop, simply go to File->Save for Web & Devices and make sure that Metadata is set to None:

Remove EXIF Data3

Once you save the file, all EXIF and XMP Data will be gone!

I just did a quick experiment with tineye.

Original image, 64 matches:
y4WtKwn

Slightly modified, 35 matches:
MGQuh5W

Heavily modified, 0 matches:
n1NzL7u

It doesn't take much to significantly reduce the number of matches. It would probably be best to check multiple image search sites, though.

4chinz automativally strips the exif data. its honestly pretty safe to post an image there. the biggest threat is probably a potential data breach where your post history would be tied to one user, then your picture would be tied to the post history. this actually happened on 2ch.
