I'm enjoying it, I'm about 20% done with the story, but I think all the criticisms about "slow gameplay" were absolutely justified. This game is unnecessarily tedious and it can kill some of the fun. I think a lot of the fun has to do with the eye candy, looking at the game and enjoying the random things that pop up.

However things like earning money outside of quests, limited things to spend money on, etc. are a bit of a turnoff.

I've been playing it almost exclusively since it released and I'm only in chapter 4. Spend so much time exploring and just enjoying the emergent moments. Game is not perfect but it's damn good.

I stopped to check out Hitman 2 and Darksiders 3 briefly, but otherwise it's been all RDR2 for me.

It's too...slow? Deliberate? idk, something like that. Realism is fine, but it's just excessive and annoying.
Feels like work, not a game. It's not enjoyable in the slightest. Shooting is clunky too, but rockstar is notorious for awful controls anyway.

I loved it though I would have preferred to have things like upgrades and hunting etc be necessary to progress the game. I never felt like I was at a disadvantage rarely doing those things. Still an amazing game.

Until you go allllll the way across the map to hunt a 3 Star ram for your vest and then otw back (using cinematic mode ofc) you set the controller down to use the bathroom or pack a bowl or whatever you do and then random ass bag bounty hunters murder your dude while he just stands there

You know you have guns, right? That bullets travel far, and travel fast? The bear shouldn't even get close to you if your head isn't stuck up your ass.

You literally have Max Payne bullet time that let's you slow action to a crawl and you still manage to get mauled? Sounds to me like you're just terrible at the game. This isn't Dark Souls. It's not difficult. But sure, blame the controls lol
