told her to just pick one out. She got it sized and purchased then he just handed it to her and said, "Here ya go."

I don't see this going well tbh. Idk if she even knows she got proposed to.

Does it have to take place in a church and be 100% ceremonial and "right" before you'll think it's a good idea? lol

I don't understand what you're saying, TC. At first I thought you were complaining because he didn't care how expensive the ring was, then I thought you were complaining about the lack of a really formal proposal.

What's the problem? Also, what do you care about people getting married?

Sorry let me rephrase what i've been told.

Yesterday I met with a buddy for lunch and he was excited to tell me that he had just proposed to his gf and that they were getting married. I of course congratulated him and asked him how he had asked her the big question.

He said they were at the mall browsing and Christmas shopping when they passed by a jewelers. They went inside and were essentially window shopping when he asked her to pick out a ring she liked. They browse for a bit longer before getting an employee to hepl them look at the one his girlfriend was interested in. They measured her finger size and it fit. He told the lady that was helping him he was going to buy it and after purchasing it he gave it to her.

I was a bit confused and further asked, "What do you mean you gave it to her?"

"Well I just handed her the bag and said here ya go."

Idk im not complaining about anything I just thought it was a weird way to propose. I'm not saying you have to get down on one knee or anything but just handing it to someone? Seems kinda...uneventful.

How long have they been dating? Is this how he usually is with this type of stuff?

Depending on how she is, this could be fine. If she doesn't like how it went down she should tell him

I have friends who literally went shopping together for engagement rings. It's not a big deal to some people. Not everything has to be a Hallmark Mystery Movie.

See, now you've told it in a way that makes sense.

The OP made it sound like he proposed, then, possibly the following day, took her to the jewellers to get the ring. I agree, it was pretty strange. But you could've explained it a lot better. This is worse than the topic about the underwater weighing test (and the sister...hehehehe).

Hey Cyric, are you married yet? Have you met your special someone?

I agree. What I found weird was the nonchalant way in which he presented it to her.

I agree hopefully the 2nd post did.

I feel like proding her about it would fan the flames if there are any. If there's an issue she can bring it up.

I suppose the point of the topic was to see if anyone else found it kinda weird that he would just give it to her saying, here ya go.

I agree that them shopping for the ring together is not unusual.
My impression is that he is more talking about how the guy just gave her the bag and said here you go.

I mean just ask her how he asked the question, same way you did him make it seem innocent
