Current Events > X-Com 2 WotC: Commander/Ironman run, failed the LAST mission [spoilers]

So, two things I learned:

1. If you don't kill the Chosen, they will all join the party on the last mission to try to slaughter you.

2. Mind Shields are 110% mandatory. Final room I had two Avatars, two Elite Priests, two Spectres, four Sectoids, and the Chosen Warlock all looking to mind control (or for the spectres, shadow clone) my team. Only one of my soldiers had a mind shield, and since the Chosen Assassin had a buff to erode my soldiers' wills in combat, they were getting controlled left and right.

So yeah, I got overwhelmed and destroyed on the final mission, and entire playthrough wasted. I learned though that even on Ironman mode if you fail a game ending mission, they allow you to try again. But fuck that I'm too prideful for that shit. I'm starting the entire game all over again. 10/10 experience.

I guess people don't play this game anymore

Yeah you need to kill all three before doing those deep raid missions, especially the last one.

Mind shields should be mandatory for your story/A-team way earlier than that mission. You should have enough money everywhere to afford them.

Definitely start over again. Maximize your economy, don't do the first few big story missions until you're comfortable, get beacons everywhere, swim in the dosh, get the all-inclusive armor upgrades and at least tier 2 weapons before going crazy against the chosen.

Did not know that about the Chosen, but it does make sense.

Thankfully they ambush you at different points.

I was worried they would potentially all strike at once

They were but they're still essential and probably the best item in the game.
