You press x on an opened treasure chest and there was another item underneath, like a secret compartment or however the game explains it.

I'm trying to remember an rpg that did this once.

Divinity Original Sin 2 might be that kind of game.

I havent encountered that but the level of detail it wouldnt shock me to see that employed somewhere. For example I accidentally picked up a random bucket and there was a skill book or some such thing hidden underneath.

In a weird sense, golden sun/ the lost age
There's a chest in Venus lighthouse that you can open in the opening of TLA and it says it's already been opened but there's still an herb inside.

There's that search perk in fallout 76 that's not automatic. Gotta hit an extra button in order to try and search for additional chems.
