I thought that there was no proof either way.

A bra helps support boobs and gives the appearance that they do not sag for many women. A woman can look great with a bra and having saggy tits once it comes off.

Bad for them because some women legit need them to support their boobs because they are way too heavy.

I find it unlikely that women evolved to have bodies that require specific clothing in order to function properly. At least not healthy women. Obviously, someone that is overweight might have issues supporting their weight. But that isn't exclusive to women or their breasts.

Hey, you'd think we wouldn't evolve club feet, lactose intolerance, gluten sensitivity, sickle cell anemia, hunchbacks, hairlips, appendixes, and a thousand other things but guess what? Evolution isn't perfect. In fact, the evolutionary path might have been perfectly fine based on the diet we consumed during the time it took place but turned into a detriment based on caloric and hormonal surpluses, or a hundred other reasons.

That is not the baseline for the evolution of the human race. Those are outliers. Also, bras were invented in the 20th century. I doubt women have significantly evolved since then to adapt to a necessity for wearing bras.

Some women can have Macromastia and they don't have to be all overweight to have them.

Fair enough, but that is a statistical anomaly. Most women don't have that condition.

The baseline is a typical human sans any sort of rare conditions. And yes, we have always needed medicine. The fact that we didn't have medicine in the past doesn't mean we didn't need it. It just means we died because we didn't have it yet.

Oh jeez, this is embarassing. Listen buddy, do you talk to women? Because an extremely common issue large-breasted women have is severe back pain, so much so that it is the primary reason women request breast-reduction surgery. The typical size of the breasts in these cases are usually not statistical outliers in terms of size. Furthermore, if you've actually talked with women before, you'd know that trying to run, jump, or even go down a flight of stairs with just averaged sized breasts is physically painful and encumbering.

In fact, human beasts are bizarre in that they are the only mammary gland in Primates that both develops independently of becoming pregnant and stays even after breastfeeding is stopped. Do you know why breasts in other primates and most other mammals go away when they aren't needed? Because they're useless and obtrusive, yet here we are. Evolution. Our baseline breasts are biologically disadvantuous and, frankly, a mystery to evolutionary biologists, but life finds a way.

I would not call being sexually appealing a useless piece of evolution

There's lots of parts to life that serve no purpose except to attract a mate. Maintaining boob size outside of breast feeding may just be that

Evolution is not about survival. It is about passing on your genes. An animal that lives a long life due to excellent survival skills, but never manages to mate, will not pass on any of those survival traits to future generations. Evolution is not about a species advancing into something better. That is just a potential byproduct. Evolution is simply the changes a species has overtime due to hereditary traits being passed on. Logic would suggest that positive traits tend to be passed on, because the organisms with the most positive traits would be the ones to thrive. But ecological phenomenons could also affect evolution. Living in an environment with few natural predators and an abundant food supply would allow animals in that area to pass on their genes at uncommon rate.

And yes, some women have back pain due to large breasts. I never debated this. Lots of men have back pain, too. Back pain is actually pretty common and for lots more reasons than just having large breasts. It doesn't mean that all women require bras, which is all I ever claimed in the first place.
