Why is there all that empty space when you press down on the triggers until it actually clicks and you press the button?

There's a difference between pressing it down part of the way and all the way in some games.

The empty space can have a different function. Ever play Mario Sunshine? Hold lightly to move while spraying, press fully to aim.

Kinda off topic but w/e.
The Steam controller has the space before the clicks as well but you can actually program the space as one function and the click as another function. --- ... Copied to Clipboard!

It works the same way as modern triggers except it locks at the bottom.
