Plan was to meet at a bar but I dont know any ones around here..

There is a Chilis..,is Chilis a good suggestion <_<?

as a general rule, i don't like doing dinner on the first date. a few reasons that come to mind:

- if the date isn't going well then either party will be locked in until the bill is paid.
- there's that awkward "so does the guy pay here or ....?" moment at the end when the waiter brings the check
- if the date goes well and you want to extend it you feel bad for staying and holding a table in your server's section
- some people are weird about eating in front of strangers

Um none if these were ever an issue when I was dating. I always offered to pay but respected when a woman insisted she pay for herself.

If it goes well then go for a walk or invite her back to your place or go for drinks.

That said, no Chilis is a garbage date spot. Go to a nicer restaurant.

Aren't you in San Bernardino? Take her to Gyu Kaku in Cucamonga (if she likes Japanese BBQ). You can have a nice distraction fiddling with the food on the grill. Otherwise Olive Garden is fine.

As for bars ask around.

Go to a small bar. I have a spot that I go to for first dates. This little brewhouse. We can each order our own things and be able to pay separately.

So its a good in and out kinda thing and usually they are around things that we can go to after.

First time meeting though..dont necessarily want to spend too much.

Ill go with The Distirct in Redlands which was the original plan. Downtown is nice around this time.

True. You can take her on a long walk through downtown. redlands is a college town so lots of bars too.
