There was no good reason to change Shun

wonder how they will deal with june, female saints in general and hades...

marin still wears a mask so is shun a saintia...?

Netflix probably didn't even bother researching all of that extra lore

I'm not really a fan of SS, but if something like Yu Yu Hakusho got remade and changed Kurama to a chick, it would be kind of annoying. Still would enjoy the heck out of it though.

Making a change or two to the source material doesn't bother me if you are loyal to the spirit of the material and you tell a good story. A good retelling isn't just 100 percent the same as every other version that came before it. That would be boring you have to do something different, to set yourself apart. What matters is if the story you tell is good. If the acting is good, if people like it. If you want the original, watch the original. A new version should be able to stand on its own not be a carbon copy.

If that triggers you you should reevaluate your life.

Who cares? The only thing that matters is if Pegasus Fantasy is the theme song.

I'd heard they changed the character to a woman because they thought a team of only guys would be "making a statement". So, instead of unintentionally making a statement by keeping the cast the same, they intentionally make a statement by changing one into a woman.

Shun? He's barely a main character. He's more of a girl than Pidg from Voltron, and that guy's a girl in half his shows.

You'd have a point with the actual fucking main character, but this? Shun doesn't even do anything. He stands there looking pretty in his pink armor and his chain does all the work. He's a trophy wife.

That being said, I don't see a point to the change either.

Kurumada had plans for Shun to be a girl early on but changed it because he thought a team of all boys would be better long term.

That said before even that, Kurumada had plans for Aiolia to be the main character so I'm still not really convinced he thought this thing out thoroughly before writing it.
