The one where it said anywhere from 500k to 3m people protect themselves effectively with a gun annually?

Right off the bat it struck me as odd, since you're essentially trying to tally up every time someone wasn't killed in a confrontation, where a firearm was used but not fired, or wasn't lumped into the general gun violence statistic, like how suicides and justified shootings are. The second flag was how wide that band was. A discrepancy of more than 2 million instances is a very broad stroke, in any sort of data figure.

I'm a firm believer in self defense, but I don't want to rely on bad data.
