You're minding your own businsess one day when suddenly there is a loud whooshing noise and a purple portal appears. A being who looks exactly like you only 17 years older, wearing tattered black military gear and covered in bruises and cuts as he waddles out. He is missing a left hand + a Right Eye and carries a blood soaked assault rifle on his belt.

He looks shocked, goes "Oh my God... Holy shit, it worked... It actually worked! That's my... I recongize this... It's all still here.... It's not too late! We can still...I can see the e....No! I don't have time for that! Listen! Listen to me and listen closely! Whatever happens make sure that you don't d-"

And then suddenly just as the portal was closing a bullet flies out of it at the last moment and catches your future self in the throat, causing him to collaspe and spasm in pulses of agony before he bleeds out on your feet and dies in pain.

There is now a dead body on the floor with no evidence of how it got there.



How do you react, what do you do?

How does the bullet catch him in the throat specifically? Is it at a lower height or is he randomly looking up at the sky whilst talking to me? Also, before I can seriously consider what I would do, I need to know what role a big British black man named Wesley has in this particular scenario.

Make a mental note to never bother with time travel, or any military matters again.

Then search the body for any relevant information that can be gleaned from it, such as identity, receipts, or any notes. If it is me then I know I have a habit of stuffing receipts and stuff into my pockets and not taking them out until I wash my clothes.

Well the entire point of yourself coming back in time would be in an attempt to change something from the past, which either proves this can change and my choices on how to change them will affect the future, or it could end up like Terminator where time is a closed loop and nothing I do changes anything, in which case it wouldn't matter what I did going forward, and also meaning going back to the past was pointless to begin with.

So no matter what in that case, it collapses the time streams to a point where I never came back to the past anyway. The only exception involves multiverse theory, where it wouldn't be guaranteed that what led to my "future" self popping over was going to happen anyway in those universe, as there'd be way too many variables yet to be determined that would need to lead to that outcome.

Even considering that everything from that point going forward happened in this universe the exact same way, with it still being tied unto multiverse theory all I would have to do is make a small change in order to prevent myself from getting shot in the neck, like refusing to go to the location of the time travel/dimension hopping device at the time it was set to activate, or even just refusing to participate in the program.

If all of THAT fails, then we're back in the realm of closed time loops, at which point it means nothing I was going to do would matter anyway.

The exact same thing I did the last twelve times it has happened Ignore it, and use the meat to make food for a few weeks.

Just kidding maybe remember to have someone tattoo the message on me, or put inside me, or just remember to duck instead of gawking after coming out of a battle situation. Either way time fracture or paradox city here we come.
