Going by WoW terms, warlocks are generally more powerful than mages in terms of notable ones. To the point that before the lore developed a bit, warlocks were typically mages who wanted more power and didn't care how they got it.

Warlock, Sorcerer, and Sage I think are the three that inherently denote the most power.

The ranking so far is:
1. Sorcerer 2. Sage 3. Warlock 4/5. Wizard/Necromancer 6. Witch 7. Mage Sorcerer has won by a pretty clear margin at this point. It's also the one I think is the most powerful. Another interesting takeaway is that Sage has clearly beaten out both Wizard and Mage.
