Were a year out from Episode IX now, and none of the films have included a character who identifies as being part of the LGBT+ community. Fans have speculated about the character of Poe Dameron, played by Oscar Isaac, since he bit his lip and offered Finn (John Boyega) his jacket.

Let a hero, like Poe or Finn or Rey (Daisy Ridley), have a same-gender partner. Let a hero character who we know to be good and kind and brave also be gay, because that sends a powerful message.

IF POE IS MADE STRAIGHT in the next film, then not only will that represent a missed opportunity but given the fan reaction to him as a gay character, IT WILL SEEM ALMOST CRUEL AND DELIBERATE. TO GIVE FANS HOPE FOR YEARS BY KEEPING POES SEXUALITY VAGUE and then to pull the rug out from under them WOULD BE HURTFUL TO SO MANY across the board. AT THIS POINT, POE PRACTICALLY HAS TO BE GAY, OTHERWISE IT WILL SEEM LIKE A SLAP IN GHE FACE TO GAY FANS.

The Star Wars films weren't really designed to be instruments of social change, or to advance any agenda. They're just mindless entertainment for people who like that kind of thing. I mean...I can't really think of any "issues" addressed in the 8 main Star Wars films. Maybe the nature of democracy and how important it is in the prequel trilogy, but not very indepth, and that's pretty much it.

Is Poe confirmed to have a love interest?

Canonically, the only Star Wars characters to have a confirmed sexuality in the main films are Luke, Han, Leia, Lando, Anakin, Natalie Portman, and Jabba the Hut. And Lukes only display of sexuality is towards his sister sooooo >_>

Actually thats the actor, Oscar Isaac, being charming.

Hes very charming and flirtatious by nature.
They were going to kill Poe but they liked him so much they kept him around.

So yeah, no big hidden gay romance plot was planned at that point. Maybe it has changed but that scene wasnt a hint.
