i did miss my copies of Heavy Rain and Beyond Two Souls, but then I bought the remastered versions for PS4

I wouldn't miss the boxes, were I not paying for them anyway.
There's no good reason for a digital download to cost the same as a physical copy which needs manufacturing, packaging, and shipping.

i'm pretty sure retailers would complain if publishers started just undercutting values by making digital cheaper. If digital was $30 and physical was $60, thats lost money for brick and mortar stores and also lowers the value of the product
