lebron

didn't need a million superstars to win unlike jordan and didn't get his father killed due to his gambling addiction

Someone on the NBA board made a long post showing how Michael Jordan is the greatest player and it is not even close. Some of them include 5 MVPs, 6 Finals MVPs, 6 championships, highest career scoring average (even higher than Wilt!), highest career PER, highest winshares, most scoring titles, most points in NBA playoff game...

I made this topic with full intent of voting for LeBron. I selected his name and was about to submit the vote but I literally froze. I couldn't do it. Even being the super big fanboy that I am I can't bring myself to lie and say he's better than Jordan. Damn it.

Who are these million superstars? I got Pippen, Rodman, and Luc Longley. Grasping for other superstars.

I'm not a basketball fan, but Michael Jordanis to basketball like Babe Ruth is to Baseball and Ali is to Boxing. These guys will most likely always be considered the greatest of their respective sports, even if there come along people who outperform them in every way.

Don't care if Micheal is the greatest, Lebron/Wade together in Miami was x1000s more fun to watch.

One response I've seen on this board to those accomplishments is "oh, Micheal Jordan was years ahead of his competition but in the current nba he wouldn't stand a chance"

Which I think is hilariously missing the point, if he was so good that he both changed the entire sport and inspired most of the players who went on to make the game what it is today then he's the one who all of that should be attributed (in varying degrees) to.

It's like how there's plenty of singers better than Elvis, but he's remembered as the King because of how much of an influence he made at the time and to the music that followed.
