I would say the most important are ambition and determination. If you don't have the drive to achieve what you want, or the perseverance to not simply quit when things get tough, then the other things don't really matter so much.

So many people make plans for things they want to do with life but then come up with excuses as to why they didn't happen but nine times out of ten it's because they either didn't try hard enough and it was easier to find a reason to quit than keep fighting through the hard periods.

Most people so far have said connections.

I'd say skill sets.

I had a lot of ambitions in my teen years, but turned out it doesn't matter if you don't have a connections. Nothing is really, except maybe social skills that help you build connections efficiently

Lulz. When it comes to someone who's highly intelligent, but has very few skillsets, and someone who is dumb, but has developed 2 or 3 skillsets extremely well, the latter will usually succeed. I know a guy who isn't that smart at all, but developed a few skillsets, and he once made 300,000 in a year (that's over $350,000).

All the options in the poll are helpful to have, but skillsets is probably the most important.

you can be the least skilled person in the world, but connections and nepotism can put you in a job position well above what you actually deserve.

I never actually said that intelligence any important at all, compared to skillset. But connections are the most important cause connections can get you further in life without putting much effort

Connections.

But of course all of these are important. Well, besides luck technically, but it's a factor nonetheless.

connections but the others are all important too. it's just that connections are the most powerful thing on their own out of all of those. you have kids or friends or relatives of successful people who are given positions they should not have, without having to put any effort in whatsoever. you have people like former president dubya bush who went to yale and became president just because he had connections. he wasn't exceptionally smart, determined or ambitious. he was just born into the right family

if you're not born into wealth or otherwise don't have that level of network, then I'd say ambitious and especially determination are next after connections

Luck for sure. There are a lot of hard-working intelligent failures out here. Not to mention to even be in the position to succeed you need to be lucky enough to be healthy. A lot of people are sick in a hospital now unable to accomplish their goals. It's not their fault they were dealt that hand. It just all comes down to luck more than anything else imo.

They're all important and having a combination of any of them could make you successful

If you could only have one, then hmmm, perhaps determination?
