At the same time though, the Leafs are really only a Marleau salary dump away from being okay for the upcoming season, with a bunch of the cap freeing up + a raise in the cap for the year after. They've got young defenders coming up that are cheap. The problem being the Kings are a cap-heavy team too (or so I read) which means garbage really needs to head back to the Leafs. Are you ready for Dion Phaneuf part deux? (of course, if his stats this season were an aberration and not the beginning of the end for his performance, I'd also feel better with Quick in net than Andersen. The great talent feeding him passes could reignite the sniper spirit... Downside is if he retires again you're stuck with the cap hit due to it being a 35+ contract.
