I checked r/freefolk after the episode for the first time in like two weeks, and yep, all of this was leaked almost perfectly. They also have an "alternate" ending which was filmed too.

With how much of a little bitch Jon was being at the beginning with how much Dany owned her villain turn I was starting to get hype for just following Dany; she may be evil but shes still the protagonist! But no, Jon killed her in the most cliche way possible and Drogon was useless. I spent this whole week wondering how they were gonna beat the seemingly invincible Drogon.

Given where the show was when the episode started, I liked it. Still some pretty dumb dialogue, but some good stuff in there in general.

Loved the small council. Can you imagine... somewhere in season 3, someone said "hey, who are all the characters we like that are just like, around?" and drew up that list of people... "this will rule the kingdoms one day". Bronn + Tyrion + Davos + Brienne is just a fucking super team.

"All stand for King Bran the Broken" can you imagine seeing Tyrion say that, with those other characters around the table, back during season 3? That would've been so off-kilter, it would be taken as a joke.

This episode did nothing wrong with Dany. Everything done wrong with her was last episode. This one did rather well with what was already there!

They needed a whole episode for her descent into madness.

They needed to build up to Jon stabbing her with a mighty crescendo instead of this... this anticlimactic whimper. I don't know. It was so fucking rushed.

Emilia Clarke's acting though. Lord has it improved. The look in her eyes as she tells Jon "they don't get to choose" and how she's the one who knows what is right and good. So good.

Not a particularly strong season, but it wasn't bad and the ending was pretty good. I look forward to continuing to see people be upset for no reason for as long as their outrage engines take to fizzle out!

All in all this was a very fun ride that I was happy to be a part of. Maybe I'll read the books if the last couple ever come out.

I liked the endings but the journey there this season is the issue.

Dany was good this episode. I swear it's the first time she acted different.

Bran becoming king makes sense but doesn't. Again, because there was no build up to it. I remember reading people "theorizing" Bran takes the thrown and I'm like wtf are you talking about, how would that work. Then I realized they read the leaks.

Satisfied overall. Small council scene was easily my favorite moment of the night, and maybe even the season somehow. Reminded me of the good old days, but with characters I actually like and understand and not freaking Pycelle and Littlefinger.

Afraid to see how many people have been decrying it immediately after and over the next few weeks or months. This season has had quite a lot of that, sometimes with good merit, but every episode has felt so rabid afterwards. I believe the sum of the six episodes turned out quite well overall. Much stronger than past seasons for certain (hi Dorne).

I didnt think he could understand it either. But then he acted like he could.

Duty can be the death of love had to be one of the best lines in this episode.

I was expecting a scene where Dany got to the point of dragonblasting Jon except he survives cuz of his bloodline and everyone goes whoaoaoaoa and then chaos and then he ultimately kills her. And then the resolution we got.

Basically this season needed to be twice as long.

the choosing a leader part was so cringe, not the idea of choosing a new king, but the dialogue

and Jon's conversation with Tyrion in prison both times sounded like it was written by elementary school children

cersei needed a more satisfying death. she needed to be shot by a scorpion into a barrel of dragonfire and she needed to survive just long enough to see the barrel ignite.

dany's shift to mad queen gave me whiplash. like the post last week said, the death of her second dragon should have been the impetus for her heel turn.

dany's death was also too sudden. like I said above, there needed to be a scene of jon being burninated and walking out of the fire as a callback to the end of season 1. then drama, he realizes finally that she can't rule, etc., and then he finally kills her.

the white walkers were built up way too much for multiple seasons to be resolved in a single episode. turns out all you needed was bran and arya with a neat knife trick. cersei might have needed some kind of confrontation with the walkers to realize she wasn't all that smart to try to maneuver around the survival of the human race.

there needed to be a zombie catlyn and robb stark.

jaime shouldn't have thrown away 8 seasons of redemption because "love is the end of duty"

overall, the show ended alright. but so much more could have been done if this season was 10 or 12 episodes. do we know why they decided on 6?

these ratings arent worth much anymore, people have gotten the idea to spam/bot them down and so true ratings are hard to find. The only ratings that matter at all are the ones related to viewership because I guarantee you HBO doesn't give a shit beyond that(And they were probably massive).

The Dexter finale was the culmination of a show that had been in a nosedive from its peak for years and 5.2 was probably too kind of people.

Do we know if in the universe they are actually aware of that fact? Obviously we as viewers have a map. I don't recall the people in the show having a map. I also recall that most people know about the lands in essos directly to the east, but their knowledge of the lands further east in the continent is murky and it seems like they don't visit them very often.

solid but not spectacular

Got my Jon and Tormund bro-fest which is the best possible ending for them.

They kept things simple, and cut to the chase... which was OK but eh.

Expedience did a bit of a number on this season but I enjoyed it. These last two seasons really needed to be 10 episodes long.

For me, the climax of the show was BotB through Spoils of War. Bronn failing to kill Drogon with the ballista was the moment of truth. The moment Drogon didn't die, everything has been a bit of a rushed (often times still very enjoyable) pursuit of the ending.

I'm happy with it. Sad that it's over.

I thought that last episode was kind of crap. Had some good bits, but still a lot that was missed. Probably due to cramming the last season into six episodes. Didn't expect it to be any good, thought it would have been worse, based on those that knew what had been leaked, so at least there's that.

but I still enjoyed it and that's more than I can say for episodes 3, 4 and 5 so I'm perfectly content with how things went.
