Let's assume hypothetically that I fucking suck at smash. Good enough to beat the adventure mode and get all the spirits. Decent enough to win more often than not at basically 0 rank.
But bad enough that Ganandorf griefs me so bad. Just about any other character is fine. But that fucker, I swear I'll hit him a hundred times and then he'll just do one smash attack and that's me done. He seems to be the go-to for noobs who want to win but don't know how to play. And it works too. --- CE's Resident Scotsman. https://imgur.com/ILz2ZbV ... Copied to Clipboard!

I'm pretty bad at giving tips but what characters do you use? Like spammable projectiles can be hella hard for Ganon to deal with. I think, idk

I think, idk Probably main Cloud, so that projectile attack he has is super useful. Sometimes use characters that have a counter-attack, like Ike/Marth, which is a really good option if I can time it right. My biggest issue is being above him or flying into him just as he winds up that goddamn forward or up smash. It's got ridiculous range and has a super high kill rate. --- CE's Resident Scotsman. https://imgur.com/ILz2ZbV ... Copied to Clipboard!

Hard hitting characters are popular online for the fact that their attacks are harder to counter with lag in play. That's why smash attacks are thrown frequently. Better throw a dozen out and get punished infrequently, than to be punished Everytime offline

Ganondorf relies on reads and bad positioning
If youre constantly losing to him all I can say is you just need to get better and punish how slow he is compared to everyone else --- I'm Commander Shepard, and this is my favorite user on the Citadel. Now Playing: Dead by Daylight, SSBU, MK11, Dead Cells, FFVII ... Copied to Clipboard!

Be more patient and less predictable. Don't keep rushing in because he'll just whiff punish you, when it should be you whiff punishing him. Capitalize off a punish and extend it as far as you can and when you're back in neutral just wait for him to fuck up. What characters do you use? Give me 3 if you have 3 or more and I will probably be able to give more in depth advice.

I just dont play online anymore. It's infuriating and awards certain zone-breaking and "ooga-booga" moves due to the lack of reaction you have with lag. I perform really well on couch but online is just a different story, especially considering my connection is not the best.

Yeah, whatever you do, do not approach in neutral (the state in which neither player is in advantage or disadvantage; ie. the start of the match when you're spawning across from each other, or when someone just died and respawns) unless you're whiff punishing the Ganon or you're doing an empty hop into grab as a mix up approach. Ganon hits hard af so if you're being recklessly aggro he'll just whiff punish YOU into oblivion. You have the range advantage with everyone except Falcon so apply that. Let the Ganon come to you, and catch him with a retreating fair. When you get a hit, extend your advantage state as far as possible with your characters combo and or follow up game. Your punish game really needs to be on point, as yes, Ganon can take a stock in 3 hits so you need to be applying constant pressure otherwise. If he side b's you, tech IN so you roll on the other side of Ganon. Pretty much every Ganon follows up side b confirm into dtilt or down b. Tech roll in until he catches on and then mix it up. I mention this because you can shield against Ganon a lot, especially in lower levels of play. Other than the side b command grab and up tilt shieldbreaker in niche scenarios, Ganon can't contest a shield other than grab which isn't as common at lower levels of play to have super great grab game and grav punishes. Get comfortable just shielding Ganon so you punish him out of shield. Be active in figuring out how the Ganon likes to down b. If you can figure out the Ganon's mix up tendencies down b will be a move you can punish a bunch, and certain Ganon's overuse it quite a bit, especially from a distance. Jump over it or shield it. Ganon is a character that will exploit your own weaknesses as a reckless player. Tighten up your gameplay and movements, don't just keep going in. Avoid being above him and just outplay him with patience and smart choices defensively. Ike is a good come back character himself, has easy to learn bread and butter combos (nair nair uair, nair bair, nair fair, dtilt fair). He's heavy and strong af so you can come back from a stock deficit if you remain calm and mix up your side b recover well (you don't always need to shoot for the ledge, just dont overshoot if youre aiming for say top platform on battlefield). You can actually approach well with side b a lot. Use your disjointed massive range to your advantage. If you get good with the Ike Vs Ganon match up you'll have the mental tools to deal with him with Cloud and Marth. I'd write up more but about to enter the gym. I'm in Elite smash with all 5 of these characters and think that Ganon is an excellent heavy, but you should be able to contest him with Ike, Cloud, Marth and think the match ups favor then. C falcon... you gotta be just as good or better and simply outplay him with your speed and buttons. --- "romance or action does not matter, hurting your friends will make you sadder..." ... Like every other Smash matchbe more defensive and reactive than your opponent stubbornly is. This is true too. As much as I value being stylishly aggressive as a player, only Melee has been the Smash game where you can be ridiculously aggro and pull it off (t. Prime Mango's Falco). Camping is a legitimately difficult to counter strategy that has been king since Brawl, but it still takes skill and practice to develop your defensive qualities. You can run into the same issue of being recklessly defensive where your opponent just reads what you're going to do if you've been obvious about it. Learn both playstyles and learn how to weave in and out of both. --- "romance or action does not matter, hurting your friends will make you sadder..." ... Copied to Clipboard!
