I have both types of diseases. I personally think it is but should be classified different. It's just weird to be having something I feel semi responsible for in the same exact category as something I was born with and would of never been able to avoid. Addiction is hard to avoid if you're born into certain circumstances tho

I know what you mean. Addiction is like in some kind of in-between.

Like why is OCD a disorder while addiction is a disease?

Both involve being compelled to do something just people with OCD don't do it because they enjoy it too much.

Good question. I think the distinction there is that with addiction you consume something, but OCD is that you're compelled to do something. Thin line though. I think you're right.

I wonder why people haven't came after the use of OCD in every day conversation. Cause technically you're making light of a mental condition people suffer from when you say things like "I have OCD about cleaning dishes" >_>. Right?

Yeah I know what you mean. It's one of those things a lot of people who don't have it have to force themselves to see it from the patient's perspective.

It's definitely an in-between. Sometimes it feels like a slap in the face to people with like cancer or something to call addiction a disease

by every meaningful metric, yes.

by arbitrary metrics based on what individuals think diseases are and aren't, who knows.
