The Athletics Richard Deitsch detailed that Game 2 between the Bucks and Raptors averaged 4.39 million viewers on TNT, down 48 percent year-over-year from when the LeBron James-led Cleveland Cavaliers squared off against the Boston Celtics in 2018.

Strange. People bitch about the constant Lebron coverage yet yikes at these ratings.

Even setting the LeBron effect aside, teams in a small market and a Canadian one will tend to have that effect.

Can't relate, this is the first time I've been interested or invested in the NBA playoffs in years and it's because of the Bucks.

LeBron smashing Toronto was always fun to watch. The Raptors were a bad match up for The Cavs in recent years.

A small market team and a Canadian team in a series that literally doesn't matter because whoever wins will lose to the Warriors in 5 games anyways.

I don't know what they expected.

Toronto is hardly a small market. And the raps have done a surprisingly decent job making the rest of Canada care about them.

The real thing is most Canadians still just dont gaf about basketball.

I don't know if this would factor in the ratings, but the Canadian viewers for this ECF are likely watching Canada's coverage of the games. Last year, TNT and ESPN broadcasts were on Canadian channels.

Edit: Seems it only factors US viewers nvm

However big Toronto is, however much its fans care, they aren't counted towards US TV ratings.

I bet you whoever is airing the series in Canada has record ratings or close to it.

What was the point?

You specifically said small market teams yet Toronto is literally the 6th largest market of any nba team.

No he's not. LeBron was pure greatness, carrying legit bums to the finals and essentially beating the Warriors in game 1 if not for Ty Lue and the Refs.

He went against all odds and even proved he was clutch. That was way more exciting.
