Current Events > Never played uncharted. Which title is good to start?

I'm reluctant to go back too far because without the nostalgia goggles a 12 year old game is probably gonna look a bit crappy.

Uncharted? Considering the original game has a prequel you could start with Drake's Fortune, or it's prequel, Golden Abyss. There are technically six games in the main series....

Drake's Deception
Golden Abyss
A Thief's End
Lost Legacy

To play all of the games you currently only need a PS4 and a PS Vita / PS TV and four games....

The games are easy to pick up and play, bolstered by high quality voice work, motion captured cinematic presentation and the over the top action movie esque fights, shootouts and set pieces are enjoyable too. There is platforming and puzzles to solve, but very little of this is really that interesting or fun and only serves to pad out the games and keep them from being a series of consecutive brawls and gun battles. Some longer platforming segments from recent games have also diminished replay value sadly.

The games, despite having a certain degree of realism to them, definitely require a unhealthy suspension of belief, especially in more recent games, even though they have turned away from potential supernatural concepts. While newer games have made improvements on existing mechanics and a few new additions, groundbreaking innovation in the series seems all but dead, and it feels like the series peaked around the third game. Anyway, if you like action movies you should give these games a shot TC, even if the series is PS exclusive.
