I feel like Japanese porn is so weird because anyone in Japan who wants to watch porn is going to watch foreign uncensored stuff, so naturally the only reason to watch censored Japanese porn is for all that culturally specific stuff. The anus is not genitalia, it's simply another body part. So until it's involved in a sexual context it is uncensored.

You think that's crazy, it used to be that bestiality was legal in Japan. And the law only applies to human genitals. So if you looked at the cover of a Japanese bestiality video, the woman's junk would be pixelated but the dog's junk would not be AT ALL.

Pretty sure this doesn't exist anymore although it's been years since I was in a Japanese porno shop.

Also even more disturbing than THAT, is that the law used to just say you couldn't show pubic hair... nothing about age... so even though nude pictures of adults were censored, pictures of girls who were, say, under 10 years old and posing nude were totally uncensored and totally legal. Fortunately this ended before I even came to Japan so I never saw it but still... yikes.
