The move that's needed is to nuke that board from orbit

It was a very entertaining place if you wanna know. What went down there was not worse than what happens here daily.

I asked you to moderate offensive content. You didn't. I would say that maybe you just missed the reports, but the frequent updates to your Markee Awards would suggest otherwise.

Three months ago you asked me to update you when the board was back in good standing. It never was. If you can't fix the problem in three months, you can't fix the problem.

Also, it's admins, not mods.

It's a community board owned by me, its two original draws being to point out that board etiquette enforcement for community boards is at the owner's discretion, and reposting things from Hellhole that got locked but weren't violations.

A few weeks in when the board started hitting the top 10, top 5 community boards, it was randomly hit a few times by moderators. It was last Labor Day as I remember they sarcastically wished me a happy one. I guess this is what those guys do in their spare time.

The last hit that happened was around 7am (first thing when you wake up, really?) it took down a message that was never marked, I quickly figured out who the mod was although his reason for moderation cited his personal grudge with me and would've given that away anyway. The moderation was later downgraded and the hits stopped.

After that they tried taking the board down, failed, so they went back to targeting individual members. They did end up driving one person off the board, but they mostly failed at that too. So apparently the next step after that was to do a 3-month feedback form campaign, or push for closure on their mod boards for all I know. The reason they eventually ended up at, without examples, was just this general idea or rumor that my board was offensive (mainly for existing).

Of course, knowing my own queue there were never more than 2 messages marked as offensive at the time of their closure attempts. This is the number that qualifies as "several" offensive messages to certain mods. Keep in mind that these are marked messages and not necessarily violations, even.

Failed closure attempt #1 was over 1) an nkl because someone said that a fictional character was impaled in a story they once wrote, and 2) someone said they would've blown up a fictional anime waifu with a grenade. This got me an admin message because I had the queue open that night but didn't get to it by an arbitrary 9:30pm deadline that some mod decided they were going to enforce, as if I could've possibly known that. There was a fairly big topic on Hellhole as a result, asking why the dead anime waifu was offensive but full Mortal Kombat fatality death videos were not, and there wasn't a satisfactory answer other than that's just the way it is, 'culturally' (read: among the mod staff). So I got dinged for using common sense in my enforcement rather than spite.

Closure go #2 was over an "offensive" which I rarely got, btw. Maybe they had to wait so long for attempt #2 because it was rare and it took that long for the pattern they wanted to come up with. But anyway, their last straw and their hill to die on this time was that someone said it was sick to push rape mechanics in games.

Never had gore, never had porn, had a few borderline maybe-you-can-see-something-through-that images that I decided were best taken down. I think it was locked for being a bit too successful for a certain person's liking.

So I think it was very successful, actually, and while I think the community would like to get back to normal and be left alone, I don't view the board as some unexpected loss because I always expected them to come after it from day 1, and one board down in exchange for confirming pretty much everything I've said about mods is a fair trade. You'll notice that they claim they don't patrol boards or messages not in queue, but they did, several times. And I'm especially glad I found out about the 7am one, that mod should resign imo.

They have all these opinions about my board and how to run it, but none of them stepped forward when leadership was offered months ago. They would prefer to complain from the sidelines and they couldn't help but patrol, the only real thing they wanted to avoid was responsibility. At least 3 months trying to lock the board, compared to LUE with its history? Compared to a place like CE where you'd see more marked in an hour than my board in a week? Priorities. We'll have a lot to talk about when the board reopens.
