So Ive always heard how great this series is. Never played any of the games, or read the books.

Got the complete edition of Witcher 3 on sale, and started playing last night.

First impression: this game throws a metric fuck ton of info at you, as soon as you start. The menu feels overwhelming. Graphics are good, but not the best Ive seen. (PS4 pro)

Been playing for a couple hours, and Im closed to finishing up the Family Matters quest line.

That botchling baby was pretty damn gruesome. Never really seen anything like that from a game.

Combat is a little tricky, but I enjoy combining magic and sword plays.

Durability fucking sucks.

Enjoying the side quests too

max out the shield spell (Quen?) first, it's OP

witcher 3 is a great game but get ready to experience the slowest narrative ever, esp if you fuck around with side missions a lot

Yeah right now my skill points are towards light attacks, and the quen shield. I try to keep it up constantly during fights.

yea, the side-quests, character interactions, and game's world/mythology were the best part, for me.

I have a half-written FAQ for this game and one of the things I was noting were "recipe chests". These can be hidden carefully on land or in water, and since they're free, it's just a good idea to get them when available. IIRC, you can't get duplicates from them.

I finished Act 2 of that game and kinda burnt out. I'm glad there are detailed quest journals because I'm definitely not starting over when I get back into it.

And I haven't even touched the DLC.

Just checked and holy shit I have 66 hours in that game.

Yeah, Ive heard its a really long game. And I usually like to do most side quests that I see.

Whenever I play RPGs like this, Ill switch off to a different genre game pretty often. Helps keeps me fresh.

Like Ill play Witcher for a couple hours, then go play UFC 3

IIRC, Hearts of Stone is meant for Lv30-40 characters, so you'll probably be in that range by the campaign's end. Blood & Wine is 40-50 or something.

Playing right now as well. I've beat the main story and Heart of Stone expansion so far. Been working on Blood and Wine, surprised how long it is.

Played the game when it originally released on PS4. Playing it on PC now and it is such a huge upgrade.

Amazing game. I went cat school/attack based. First time I went bear school/quen based.

It's just the type of gear you use which gives different bonuses based around types of attacks used such as light attack heavy attack and signs. Light attack based builds is probably the most popular. I used heavy/sign build the first time. For a sign melee build wolf school is best

Gotcha.

Yeah I havent really gotten any new armor yet. I did come across a blacksmith who said he would make me a set, if I bring him these special tools.

I think thats a level 30 quest though, Im only level 6 iirc

Yeah the gear you make for the specific Witcher schools is better than the majority of found stuff and you can only make master level gear by finishing a quest. You find recipes for specific parts of the gear around the world and then you're able to upgrade said gear with upgrade recipes you find

Found out why my weapons are breaking so quickly. Guess Im using the wrong sword? Geralt seems to automatically draw his weapon when combat is approaching, so I figured he picked the right one.

I never had an issue with weapons breaking... As far as I know he should auto draw the correct one but I turned that off. Steel for humans, silver for monsters

I actually felt the same, i couldn't get into it first time i started it couple months ago. And now i decided to try again, and it finally became more interested and enjoyable after i got to Novigrad.
I was pretty bored with forrests and swamps, especially cause i played Odyssey at that time

If Im having a conversation with someone and I can compel them with magic, does it ever have a negative impact?

Only tried it once or twice when available, but I got xp for it

Not that I know of. I tried to play as good guy, but then realized I wasn't really when it dawned on me I selected the brainwash option in every conversation that I could.

People love to state how overpowered the shield spell is, and it is. My preference was to improve the spell that can know down enemies. If you get in close when they are on the ground, you can use a coup de grace to kill them outright.

The ball is round, the game lasts 90 minutes. That's fact.
Everything else, is theory.
